RC Hovercraft Build
Hey guys,
I'm currently attempting to build my second fully RC hovercraft. Anyone who has previous build experience, any tips/techniques for doing something better/easier it would be muchly appreciated. I will be blogging the whole process so anyone who is interested or want an idea for a new project. Feel free to check it out at Remote Control Hovercraft Build Cheers Sam
|

On (Jet ) Aircraft these close behind the Motor.Redirecting the Thrust. It should work on a Fan Motor aswell? They are 2 1/4 cups that when closed make a Half Shell Behind Thrust! which redirects it!

Haha, sorry deathwish, I have been camping. So no internet :(
Oh and Charlie, I'm using a fan motor so reverse is easy:) Edit: so im stupid and wasn't thinking when I wrote this, the motor can reverse, but i cant with my rc set up. So Charlie, whats the go with these clamshells? Do you have any pics or more info? cheers Sam |

Any updates?

RE: RC Hovercraft Build
Within the next 2 weeks I expect to have the craft complete. Uni assignments have taken over any chance I have to blog and build, its one or the other at the moment and building has taken preference. In saying this I should probably do a quick update this weekend as it will be the first one where im home in 5 weeks.

Most of todays Jets use them. They close behind the outlet.Picture a half of a Basketball cut in two. When split they are on both sides .When closed they come together behind the motor reversing the thrust.Look at any airliner!

RE: RC Hovercraft Build
I have working reverse thrust charlie :)
With my VERY crude measurements i would put it at about 3/4 of a pound in reverse with about 2 pounds in forwards so hopefully that should work. I have a 5.5" prop in a 150mm diameter pvc pipe for my thrust with a little hand made actuator to push them all out. Its a pretty simple design with the buckets sitting just past the ducting and then just hinged at the rear.
|
