bigNspeed21,

Unfortunately, the smallest pinion you can get for a 3.17mm shaft is an 11-tooth...with that 3500KV motor the headspeed will be way too high! I bought the JGF 450TH...it is a 3000KV and works nice on the 36. Do yourself a big favor, though - don't buy anything but the Castle Creations Phoenix 35 ESC! Some of the other ESCs won't even start these outrunners, but the Phoenix seems to work fine.

Could you tell me where you are able to get an 11 tooth pinion for the 3.17mm shaft? I have been hunting around for quite a while now and i am stuffed if i can find one.
Hope you can help

guru101,

Have you looked at the Align pinions? I got mine from Helidirect...it was part of the 3-pack with the 11, 13 and 15 tooth pinions. They have the set screw and my motor has a smooth shaft, so I just put it on with some Loctite 680. I had the same problem trying to find an 8T for a 2.3mm shaft...they don't seem to exist...a very good reason to stay away from those high KV motors.

bigNspeed21,

Do the servos work and it's just the motor that's not working, or do you mean nothing at all works?

Hi, sorry to deviate off a little but is 3025 rpm ok for a walkera 36 with full metal upgrades? because i have just ordered a 4200kv motor with a 10t pinion but dont know if it is too powerfull because i have already toasted 2 walkera 3200kv motors. thanks

I just asked that same question on the other 36 forum, that head speed is not recomended. About 2200->2400 is ideal. I had mine spinning at 3100rpm and it was way to high and seemed to be ready to disintigrate itself. Esecialy with foam blades on. Mine also has metal head, but i was not comfortable with such a high speed.

i see, is there any way to limit/slow the head speed by using the PIT or PLT knobs on the tx?
