RE: lama 400d
sorry to disappoint you, but this is by no means a new coaxial anymore ... maybe this is just not the right forum - except you and me want to drastically change that!!
I have this bird for about 6weeks now, but it is actually on the market for about 9months Iwould say ... in the mean time there are several aftermarket manufacturers offering aluminum upgrades (sounds weird considering it already is "all aluminum", but once you took a closer look at the quality of some of these aluminum parts, you will agree that it may not be such a bad idea upgrading these aluminum parts after all ... )
The blade grips (or better the way of mounting them) almost makes an upgrade mandatory
On other forums several people already converted the bird to brushless and I myself have several mods I am going to do to this bird in the close future ...
Did not fly it too much yet, as I can only fly indoors and it sometimes is not that easy to find a space for a "Giant" like the Lama400d.
Anyway, looking forward to more people contributing here ...
Regards,
Sven

RE: lama 400d
We bought this heli recently and it's a lot better than the E-SKY BIG Lama. It costs more than the E-SKY BIG LAma, but it comes already with the following:
1. Metal Rotors
2. Blades are slightly llonger making easier for lift when throttling up.
3. Shaft is already extended, so there is less likely hood of blade striking.
4. Has a port for most L.E.D. systems perfect for night flying.
5. Airframe is made much stronger than E-SKY BIG Lama.
6. Larger LIPO Batery for longer flight time.
7. Separate canopy for easy access to inside of heli as opposed to an all integrated body canopy found on the E-SKY BIG Lama
We thought all of these built in extras where great. We added a twin brushless motor system and this heli is awesome. We mounted a Mini Digital Camera and it take aerial videos perfectly. Below is a video.

RE: lama 400d
After reading all the posts about this co-ax heli I will pick one up tomorrow.
A local SoCal Hobby Shop has them on sale for $169.99, and at that price
I will pick up a few extra blade sets and some other bits & pieces.
Hopefully as time goes by there will be more aftermarket parts available.
In case anyone local is interested it is the labor day sale at Hobby People.
I have been fooling around with a Heli-Max CX Micro that was given to me
after the owner gave up after a crash. Not a very good heli on it's best day.
And I've done ever mod to it that I've ever heard about. Still not very stable
and that's indoors.
