periscopes
A small item such as a periscope can add a lot of authenticity to your US tank. They are simple to make and cost nearly nothing.
Pick up some scrap plexiglass mirror material....anyone that does home/bathroom refurbishing should have some, or a small piece that they'd sell real cheap. Tools needed; Dremmel tool with saw blade and small sanding wheel.
Cut a strip 10mm wide....Dremmel off a 45 degree slope on the back of the scope. (leave the plastic cover on the mirror). Paint the periscope head...(down to the end of the bevel), rear and sides, black....bottom OD. Cut the periscope 5mm from the top....Dremmel off the periscope cover molded onto the tank, cement your periscope in place and install the wire protective bracket.
Gunner does not get one. TC Hatch: periscope is larger, so cut one 12mm wide TWO PIECES one 5mm high and..cut off about 8mm for the inside piece....for head room. Cement one part facing one way, other side opposit direction. It's amazing how many will see the glint of the mirror and spend time looking at it. Remove plastic cover from mirror before mountinmg.
Photos....cannot get these in sequence, but they are self explanatory. Sequence should be 4,2,3,5,6,1,7,8
