I would like to see some of these graphics! I am having someone do a really trick paint job on my cowl and wheel pants soon. Whats everyone else's AUW?

I was thinking of some American flags sorta like the Shulman Comp Arf scheme. I wanted to do some shark teeth on the cowl also.

My rtf weight was 23lbs 9 oz with BME 100 and 3 Nimh batteries.

If you would like a price on some graphics feel free to shoot me an email at [email protected]. Thanks!

Speaking of graphics, we've just been putting together one of the blue/white Patty Wagstaff models with graphics package that was done by Eric Bryant (any relation to Ken?).

I had not realized how striking this color scheme is. I've mentioned it to several people who have shown extreme disinterest, but up close and personal it's really gorgeous.

I plan to build one for myself when I get some more of them.

An early photo is shown below, more to come when it's finished with the graphics. And BTW we are experimenting with my MVVS 58, trying to get the weight down to where this smaller engine will pull it.

Tom,

I think Bobby had my name mistaken for Ken. I made his graphics as well, and he must have thought my name was Ken. Anyway, I am very glad that you like the Wagstaff graphics and I can't wait till you get a picture with all of them applied. They should look great! Thanks again.

I have to admit it does look very nice also. Although I love hanging them from the prop, I am also into scale. This 260 can really fly well, so the Wagstaff would be nice in both scale looks and flying ability. I myself would like to see one all done up with a PW pilot inside of course!

Tom, what is the current status on the 260's? Saw your update on the WHRC site 5/19. Curious how many of the Wagstaff 260s are en route to the USA, and how many are spoken for.

I currently have one Patty W. Extra 260, 2 wh/bl/yellow ones, and a bunch of red ones. The next batch is due to leave Thailand in a couple days, it will have more of the PW 260s, more of the white/black/blue. and more white/black/yellow.

By 7/15 we should be fully stocked on all available models and colors.

BTW the PW blue is really beautiful, it looks much better in person than in the photos.

Hi Tom, how many of the Extra 300 Specials (red/white/blue) with the new wing do you have in stock? I have a BME 50 waiting for a new plane. Tha BME should pull it okay shouldn't it?

Bobby

P.S. I'm building up a supply of flyable planes because I don't want to be caught "short" like I did last year!!
P.P.S. Yes, it was Eric that did the very nice graphics.

Tom,

I should shoot a video for you Sunday so long as the weather is cooperative. I will edit it one with and one without music and send you a copy.

Well I was going to take that video Tom....dun dun dun. Then Smack! Yup, my power regulators, either one or both, failed and my plane pancacked into the ground ;( I guess I should have quit flying earlier today. Now I am going to have to get another. Thing that really hurt though was my DA was split in two. Well at least one head came off entirely. So after I send it back to DA it will be time to figure out what engine to stick in it. Totally bummed my best flying plane is in tiny pieces in my car.

I know it doesnt bother me so much about the plane, thats easy to rebuild or re order. Its the engine that made me a little bummed

Someone once told me:

All planes have an expiration date, some sooner than others...

Dont worry I promise to hover my next plane on its first flight. If anything I can now say that my DA 100 is well "broken in" lol

AirborneSGT, I wasn't going to say anything... but you know what they say... misery loves company.
Maidened mine on Monday night. Had 2 really superb flights. CG was a little forward of ideal. I added couple of ounces of tail weight and went back for a few more flights last night. On the fifth flight, something went terribly wrong whilst testing slow harrier flight characteristics. It all happened so fast. Not really sure what went wrong for sure. It acted like one elevator half locked in full up deflection. Anyhow, snapped all the way into the ground.... so now mine is a pile of saw dust too. I'm still finishing the post postmortem. So far all the electonics test out fine. Everything is working as it should, even after a really nasty crash. Stripped the gears in a couple of aileron servos, but that's a result of the crash. Other than that, I can find no reason for what looked like a locked elevator half. I'm pretty darn sure it wasn't radio interference. The PCM receiver never went into failsafe. If it had, my throttle would have closed to idle. The throttle was responding to my commands all the way to the ground. Chalk it up to pilot error I guess.

I had a BME 110x in the plane. I just finished going thru the engine, cleaning it, and checking for damage. To my amazement, there was no damage to the engine at all!! Not even a bent cooling fin. I just finished mounting it up on the test stand. It runs just like it always has.... whew..... gotta like BME ;-)

We,re gonna have to talk to Tom about the expiration date on these 260's (wink, wink).

I feel better now How bout you and me grab a few rounds at that old sports bar we all know and love. Better yet make it Hooters!

I think I lost mine on the account of faulty power regulators. My DA 100 did not turn out so well. Cooling fins bent, and one cylinder head came off!

What prop did you have on the BME 110? I was running a 27x10 NX on my DA 100. I could get hovers about 10 feet off the ground. The problem with the DA was it wanted to pull so much. I could hover well but it would want to pull out. I would have to goose the throttle to keep it low on my hovers.

I was running a BME 27x10 (Menz knock-off).
I had not gotten up enough courage to try hovers down low yet. Did a couple up high. Anywhere between 1/4 and 1/2 throttle. I think the BME 110 is a good choice for my altitude. I've got a 33% H9 CAP 232 with a BME 102 in it (weighs almost exactly the same as the WH 260). Tried a ZDZ 80 in the CAP first... just wasn't quite enough to pull out of a hover. The BME is perfect.

I took the ratchet out of my throttle stick. Helps a lot.

BTW, my AUW was 25 lbs. 8 oz. with the BME 110 on JMB canisters (60/60/270).

airborneSGT , sorry to hear about the altercation with the ground. You say faulty regulators? We need details like battery size/type, loaded voltage before and last flight before this last flight and what pin points to the regulators?

Nah, I don't believe 25 1/2 lbs with a BME 110 unless you were carrying your rock collection. It should have been more like 22 lbs. even. The JMBs are heavy but might have added a pound. What else was in it to make it that heavy. 2.5 lbs. is a lot of weight.

Do you trust the scale?
