Steve,

How many Giles do you see on any given field? The areas I usually fly, mine's the only one. The new MX2 should really set things apart, and the lines and locations pretty much say it should fly great.

Truthfully, not many. I have one of the old GP giles I used to drag out once in a while. Other then that one I have one flying buddy who is Giles crazy. He has 3 of 'em, including the Airwild 38% composite Giles. I was really impressed with how well he could 3D 'em. I too had heard all the stories about the various Giles bad habits, Tip Stalling, snapping, etc. Never saw one that flew badly though unless it was built poorly, or heavy.

I like the look of the new MX2, Kinda hope it flies well too. By the end of the summer My big bunny may be about wore out.

Man that stab is WAY up on that turtledeck like the CAP and the wing is nearly underslung... It will be interesting to see what characteristics... I'd think it would act most liek a CAP than anything else.

I agree, the layout is like a Cap but with the looks of a Giles.

I am finding that our Cap is a really nice flying plane. I had never had a Cap before and was always a little put off by the looks and layout. I now know that it's a very stable platform, it flies as well as anything I have flown.

If the MX2 flies as well it will be popular.

Well, I decided that the new MX will get the new BME 115 when they both hit the streets. I figure that a new design deserves another new design to pull it along. There's nothing like having more power than you know what to do with and still be lighter up front than all the other engines. I'm sure looking forward to the public unvieling of this one.

I too saw this MX2 at Oshkosh. The factory guys told me that this one (in the picture above) is the first production plane. The livery that is most commonly see (no checkers on the wings) is actually a prototype with modifications yet to be made. It's all minor details.

I will admit, the prototype would be a whole lot easier to cover than the first production plane's livery with all of those checkers. I start to sweat just thinking about it.

Where's your sense of adventure?? I covered a guys delta wing plane one time in red and white checkers. You can't believe how fast you get disoriented when you're working on one like that.

Is this the planned color scheme? I think it looks pretty good. Looking forward to seeing it on the market, good sized plane at a great price. Also, will there be any allowance for a canister installation (i would be using a 3w106 TOC on 3W canisters)? Thanks for any info

So far we have done the first plane in the first MX2 colors, without all the checkers. The later scheme is very difficult to do in film, so I'm not sure what we'll do. An actual photo of the first prototype is shown below. I'm just waiting for an engine to finish and fly it.

Yes it will be wide enough top handle the 3w 106 or a DA-100, probably with room to spare.

Yes it will have integrated canister tunnel and Wild Hare will have canister kits available for 3w and DA engines.

I also plan to test it with the new 3w80Xi and have a canister kit available for that engine. I think the ZDZ Super-80 should work well also.

You said "at a great price", did I ever quote a price in public? I don't recall.

Of course it will be priced below all the competition. Like all of our planes, our cost is 20% lower than all the others because we don't sell through distributors.

How much do you think some distributor like Tower or Horizon or Chief Aircraft make on the planes they sell?

Sounds good,

The checkers on the leading edges look a little to busy anyway, The plane blue is nice and the color scheme lends itself well to using after market graphics. I do see where some guys may not be the fondest of the green but a different color in its place would be a great option, just as you have done with your other products.

I have talked to Gerhard about the 3W80 and he seemed pretty excited about it. He compared it to some other manufactureres 100 cc twins (i have no evidence to prove or disprove this). I believe the price is more resonable than the other 80cc singles out there.

In an earlier post or under a different topic you had mentioned a price between 700-800.

I know that a hobby town store will make $75 on a $500 dollar product (of course they are a distributer).

Thanks
Bill D.

The price is not set in concrete but I think $749 will probably be what I need.

Sounds like about 20%. I don't know but the math would add up.

If I ship a plane to a big distributor they will want to make at least 20% on it, plus there's another shipping step. Even if I ship by truck in quantity it will cost $35 to ship a 28% plane.

So for example if I sell a 28% Extra or Edge through a distributor and hope to make the same amount of money, they would pay me $400, pay shipping of $435, then add at least 20% to the price making it $522, which if you look around is about the going rate for an 84" aerobatic plane from one of the big distributors.

So I'm happy offering a better deal for my customers and selling direct.

I'll remember that remark! By the way Tom, Got my stuff yesterday, thanx.

I find it kinda funny that RCU didn't cover you any better at Toledo. As much as you advertise, I only saw you mentioned once. First time I missed Toledo in years. I'll be ther next year for sure.

They owe me two yet-to-be-published reviews also, one over a year old. It's a conspiracy.

Is that an old picture or are they in Dennison for the Nationals already? I am going to be there Thursday and Friday. Friday will be the good day. That is when they are scheduled for the 4 minute freestyle.
