Default RE: 50cc Edge V2 has landed

I crashed my edge last fall and had to purchase a new airframe, of course you probably all know that they now longer carry the 540T so I bought the 88" 540. Well my canopy wings and tail survived the crash so since I was recovering the airframe anyway I decided to use the formers from the 540T fuselage and put the 2 place canopy on the new edge. everything fit very well, all the tail feathers are the same and with some small modifications to the wings, I beleive they will work as well.
Well I got it done for the most part and maidened it tonight and lets just say that with the DLE 55 in it, it flies incredible. I'm very pleased so far. So I leave you with a couple of pics of my almost finished but flyable wild hare 88" edge 540T

Just in case anyone is wondering about the paint that I used. The plane is covered in metallic blue monokote and I used auto-air pearl blue over there sealer black and it's almost a dead match. The metal flake in the paint is a little larger than in the monokote but the color is almost perfect. I am very pleased with the end result. On top of all that, the aircraft fly's great.

Great job - way to go! Glad to see you didn't just pitch the old one and buy a new plane. I like the 540T V2's.

Anyone still flying these? I am currently refurbing one, and shoehorning a DA70 into it.

50cc Wild Hare Edge bit the dust in a moment of severe gravity. Still flying a WH Extra 260, it was the last one from WH and had their marketing graphics on it.

Looks like I may have found the spot with some bait still left on the line I saw some resent posts as I came to the end of this thread and was elated. I just bought one of these partially done but never flown. All ARF building done, servos installed' all surfaces connected. Almost like he took the radio equipment and engine off and the rest of the plane is there. I picked up for what I thought was a steal not really knowing the brand when I purchased. By the sounds of it I may have found something special. I pretty sure it's a version 2. I will post a pic or two. I noticed RJ Rose has been on this thread since it began. Was wondering if I could pick you brain a bit on what I am thinking about doing. This is my first gasser. Thinwall

Default Brain Picking

You may pick my brain as you see fit; however, be advised that it is thoroughly picked over!

Default Pics and a plan

Well here are some pics. This is my first gasser and also the biggest plane in my hanger. I have been starting some IMAC sequence practice with my sports planes and want to use this plane to start with basic. My research tends me to think this might not have been the best plane for that type of flying but many says it will do fine to learn with and everyone seems to like its more 3D flight which I will use it to learn on also but with more concentration on scale aerobatics. I am leaning toward a DA50 or maybe the 60? Don't need it overpowered though. I want the most reliable power plant. I will go with all spektrum radio gear. Going with the dual when they come back out in may or June??? The servos are currently all hitec HS 5735 MG on the rudder push pull. 5925 every where else. I know these are not state of the art these days but they are brand new. So. Servos stay?? 50 or 60??? Gas tank size???? thanks. Thinwall

Default Wildhare 50CC Edge V2

Looks just like mine did. Rudder should be pull/pull not push pull. 50cc is plenty for this airplane, I have a strong preference for DA engines based on their product support. Mine was reliable for 10 years, then developed a carb problem. DA rebuilt the carb for total cost of $9.00, kit cost only, no shipping! They also repaired my ignition when the plug boot was pulled out from a c****, a word that is not in my lexicon!

I would only use digital servos on all flight surfaces. They hold better. Don't know the specifics of the servos you cite. Use a "monster" on the rudder as it is a single servo unlike some of the two or three servo installations.

This plane will do anything you ask of it - precision aerobatics, 3D, etc. The only downside is that WH is out of business and there are few if any spare parts on the market. So if you have a c**** and can't repair something, it's time for a new airplane.

I wish Tom Fawcett all the best in his continued retirement, but I sure miss his products and support!
