Very sweet Tom, those look great, I almost want one, but I'm thinking about a Evolution 26 gasser?

The evoluution 26 should be good on it. I actually have a new one in stock, I've been sitting on it for a year because I had nothing to sell it with. But I think it will work fine on these little planes.

I put my name on the list to get one the little extras to replace my current baby edge. I'll move everything over, including the Evolution 26. The 26 only weighs about 32 oz (engine only) which is very close to a 160. Add 7 oz for the ignition and a couple oz for a small 2cell Lipo and I think it'll be fine.

Hey Tom,

The new 540 73" looks very close to the old design. Will the wings from the old edge fit the new fuselage? Im considering buying the new design because my old one had a mishap on the fuse anyway. Just wondering if the wings and stab will fit.

Thanks.

There is compatibility at the color scheme level only. These planes are totally different from the old ones.

If there is any parts crossover it is a total coincidence.

YES! Just saw this thread! Thanks Tom. Now I can pull my 1.10 out of my F90, and put it something with real potential!

I see that the Evolution's weight is close to the others. But I haven't heard anything on the performance of them. How do you think they will do from pull out of a hover?
Sure would be nice not to have to wipe off the slime at the end of the day .

Hello Tom!

How would you recommend opening up the cowl on the Extra 260 using the O.S. 1.60 to keep it cool? I burned up one inadvertantly in an Edge (have since replaced it) and I'm planning on using it in your Extra, and I don't wish to repeat history.

Thanks!

I've never used the Evolution 26, but from what I hear it should be plenty of power.

The OS 1.60 that I have been using seems to cool adequately with just the cowl opening and a vent in the bottom. I'm not sure what else you can do unless you mount it inverted.

I always run a pump on big glow engines, I know that if they cannot get enough fuel they will get hot.

The big brown truck dropped off my new baby Edge today. Wow what a sweet looking plane. Tom mentioned that it was light but just to back that up mine tipped the scales at 2216 grams. That includes everything in the box, fuse, wings and tail, gear cowl, pants and even the hardware packaged items. I didn't weigh the free really cool wing bags but I gotta say they are a great extra bonus. Anyway the whole plane is under 5lbs. So, there are lots of options out there for powering this thing and most will keep it under or near 10lbs. I think this is going to be fun!

In the process. I'm liking what I see so far. Saito 125.

Tom,

Very nice looking planes. I like the Extra 260 and I'm looking at the Brillelli 26cc that weighs 45oz RTF weight. Is this plane beefy enough to handle the vibration of a gasser?

I'm hoping Jesse (thewrap) will get his built soon so the balance can be determined with that Saito 1.25. It's roughly the same weight as an OS 1.20 AX.

I flew the prototype with an OS 1.60 and a slimline pitts muffler. That combo is at least 10oz. heavier than the Saito, and the plane was way nose heavy, so I'm hoping it will balance well with these lighter glow engines.

2216 grams is 4.8 lbs. Add a 30 oz. engine/muffler and it's about 6.5. Radio and servos will be maybe 2 pounds, less if on is careful. I'm seeing sub-9 lbs. still with careful selection and building.

Saito 1.25 or OS 1.20 AX on a 9 lb. plane should be wicked cool. YS 1.10 also, or Thunder Tger 1.20. The TT 1.20 is a much forgotten engine, it is one of the finest engines I have ever owned. Easy start, plenty o'power, trouble free.

Hi,

Will there be a Sukhoi?

I think if these do well as far as sales Tom would be sure to add to the fleet. I am hoping for a CAP232 myself but I dont see it happening anytime soon [&o]

I'm working on mine. I'll definately have it done by next weekend. And I'll get the maiden and hopefully get some video. But right now I'm liking what I'm seeing. I have a build thread going so if you guys are interested just take a look at the Baby 260 Build.

Hey Tom, how do you think a YS 140S will fly either the Extra 260 or the Edge 540? Oh and just to make sure these are these really coved in ultracote? The last company I bought an arf from said it was covered with ultracote but it turned out to be chinacote.

YS 1.40 will be way too much power, it will work but you will never need full throttle.

What sort of action on my part would convince you it is Ultracote? If you can not take the word of the person selling the plane then you should not buy from that person.

I did not mean to sound stern, but I was serious. If you bought a plane from somebody who misrepresented it you should not continue doing business there. There are lots of honest people selling planes, buy from one of them.

Our planes are covered in Ultracote exclusively. The only exception might be on a prototype or if they snuck some in without my knowledge, but as far as I know they have not done that.
