upgrade/replace
MR Ballard
I have a wren 54 MK2 Kit it has not been run since I built it some years ago. I will need another for my f-14, I see that the 54 has been changed/upgraded what would be my best course of action? purchase another at the current level and upgrade what I have or purchase two new engines? Can I get upgrades? which I prefer. I have experience with turbines and I like to do my own building. Can I get all information along these lines to aid in my decision?
thank you in advance....................DONNY

RE: upgrade/replace
Donny,
Unfortunately, most parts for the MK 2 are now depleted.
Is yours a welded case??
Twin plug??
Shrink wrap ECU??
Wren no longer offers these motors as a kit build.
The Wren 100 is now the motor of choice, as it comes in kero Start, and still weighs the same as the older MK2-3-4, has the same dimensions as far as installation...and now produces 22 pounds of thrust!!!
You could do an upgrade on the motor, but this would not be cost effective, and thrust would only increase by a pound or two!
Feel free to call me if you have any other questions @ 260-701-8936

Thank you for the quick response!
My 54 has the welded case, twin glow plugs and shrink wrapped ECU. does it matter?
That 100 sounds like a major upgrade/redesign of the 54, 22 pounds of thrust has got my attention, I will check it out, fuel consumption is of major concern.
I am now also concerned about repairs and parts for my 54 in the future, am I out of luck? I will use it in another bird for sure now!
Thanks for the PH. NO. I will probably need it................Donny
