Default Wren 44 Man Start

Was wondering if there s a way to test the RPM sensor to see if it's bad other than just not getting a reading on my LCD readout? I have a CO3 Facac. Thanks.

I'm surprised the Ron hasn't chimed in. You may want to email him direct, or, email Gaspar. (from Xicoy)

As far as I know... you need an O-scope to properly check the output. (or a frequency counter)

Yep. I was wondering the same thing Tony. Ha. I did find a fix though. When this turbine is proven, I may
Sell it. Watch out for the storm up there man and thanks.

If you decide to sell it... PM me first. I like my little Wren, and transporting small jets is much easier.

Will de Tony I just ran it two more times and I found that it had a rear case screw out and the tail one was sloppy loose. This must mess with the case preasure more on these small egnines Must be just a tick to tight on the preload a d just have to run it. I feel much better about this turbine now. As always thanks for your input.

Roy,

I have always powered up the system, and manually spun the turbine to see if there is any reading. If the HDT stays at zero, I would then plug in a new RPM sensor to the ECU and hold it next to the compressor. If still no RPM indication...I would then check the magnet strength in the compressor screw. The last place to check would then be the ECU.

You mention the rear case screws missing...YES!!! this does affect the running of the motor, less pressure means more fuel, hotter temps, and less "happiness"

let me know how you get on !!

Thanks Ron for checking in. after the new screws seems to be running good. Just need to run it
On the stand some and watch all the info on the ECU.

Ahhhh... the old missing case screw trick!

Had me stumped for a little while, now it's a go to if I have acceleration problems.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9682331/tm.htm

Trouble is I'm scared to lean on the screws to get them REALLY tight because the're
tiny little 2.5 mm screws []

Glad to hear you found the problem. John.

John it's amazing how much that one little screw will make the diff. I really like this little engine. If it just had about 3 more pounds. Lol. After I rescrew the three on the tail cone and run it some more, I will more then likely sell it and get a larger one. Hope all is well down under and good to hear from ya.

I think that little middle tailcone being loose will even make a diff on how it runs from what I saw yesterday. Mostly at high RPM.
