Default YS 63 FZ Cam Timing

Hi Dave,

I took my YS 63 FS a part to change the bearings. Do you have any tricks to get the cam bearings out that are rusted and Stuck, I have tried every trick I have and they are still stuck. I am not sure how to set the timing when I put the cam back in the motor. I see a Dot on the cam, is that TDC when the piston is TDC? Sorry, this is my first 4 stroke rebuild, I have done a bunch of 2 stroke motors.

You'll need a slide hammer puller to get the inner cam bearing out easily. You can try heating the case slightly with a torch in the area of the bearing and reaching in with a hemostat, but a slide hammer is easier. You have to make it, the local hardware store won't have one.

The dot at 12, the piston at 12. Easy.

Good Luck!

Dave,

Thank you for the info. Can you tell me if I sould have my piston ported or I have read about work to the piston on the 63 motor. I have the motor a part, is this something I can do at home?

Thanks,
Bill Bigelow

If you have a 63S it already has a gas ported piston.

Does the piston have either 4 notches or 4 holes through the piston crown?

Dave,

They have 4 notches on the face of the piston above the ring. Is this piston already done?

Thank you,
Bill
