Default YS 120-F throttle barrel air bleed ?

I have a 120-F, I was reading some of the posts here and you told them to drill the hole in the throttle barrel air bleed to 1/8 inch so I look at my throttle barrel and it dose not have a hole at all do I need to dill a hold in it and if so where, BTW this engine has never been run it is NIB I am getting ready to put it in a plane would there be anything else I need to do to the engine.

Thanks Tom

The posts refer to a 120NC, which had a 1/16" airbleed hole already drilled in the throttle barrel. Run the engine before you make any modifications.

Hi Dave, just two more questions the engine did not come with a muffler just a little pipe can I just run it like that or doses it need a muffler, and how much nitro can I run in it, ok just one more, is there any thing else I should order for it because of its age.

Thanks Tom

I can't comment on what you might need, try running it first.

We recommend YS 20/20 or 30% heli fuel for best results.

You can run it with the supplied pipe, no problems.

Hi Dave, I started the 120 it fired right up this thing runs great it was running very rich and it has good transition this thing rocks my test stand almost got away from me, some of the o-rings on the push rod tubes are coming apart so I think I will get a new gasket set and o-ring set for it, the only reason I ask about the air bleed hole I saw the posts then look at my manual and the pic of the throttle barrel has a hole in it and mind doesn’t, I will put it on the plane and finish breaking it in and then sweat the small stuff, the manual said this is a YS.Futaba 120SF (Supercharged. Part No. YS0070) don’t know if this info can tell you how old the engine is I got it a long time ago.

Thank you very much Tom

The engine was made in the late 80's. They were really good engines.

Good Flying,
Dave
