RE: the new y.s. motors
Hello!
Do someone know where the new YS is in stock? My FZ 63 S broke up yesterday, just at the beginning of the F3A season! So I would need to get a new YS 70 here to Finland as quickly as possible. The 63 splitted its crank shaft after 100 flights... Luckily there was nobody in front of the plane when running the engine on the field. The shaft (of course with spinner and prop) shot itself out quite fast...
Best regards,
Janne Lappi

RE: the new y.s. motors
Another improvement in quality of the YS FZ-70S over the 63S is that the fuel metering hole in the carb body now lines up with the tapered slot in the barrel. I wanted to use an old carb body because I had bored it out and put in an extension for an air filter. The hole and slot didn't quite line up. I then looked at the old carb body with the old barrel. It didn't line up either! A 0.010" spacer under the throttle barrel retainer (YS1090) fixed it. The 70 barrel is new and improved.

I replied back saying those are stronger than the OS91 FS maybe stronger than the saito 91s and 82. I have the Saito 91s i run a 13x9 at around 10,500 on 35% i will try a 12x8 and 13x7 this weekend.

Is that why they waited so long to bring it out? So we would forget that the 1.10 was only $365?

RE: the new y.s. motors
A lot!I mean, it's still the basic old .91 Air chamber casting isn't it? Board out to the max I'd guess. The original AC .91 wasn't without issuses, certainly not completely sorted with the .91FZ version. How much power can you screw out of and old design? There are some historic problems with this approach from my experience. The old 1.20 FZ, super reliable... board out the the 1.40 FZ again very relaible. Not quite the 1.20FZ level but very, very good.Hotted up into the L version.. hummm here we go, problems... then the DZ.... and all hell broke loose. There is a point when you just can't pimp anything more from an old design. I guess this 1.15 is as far as it can go. I for one won't be the Guinea pig.I'd pick up an old 1.20 FZ... a little heavier, but HUGE 1.20 power... and OS 1.20 surpass, no-brainer function/reliablity. And that's what you want.

$774.21 at the current rate of exchange.
Interesting comments on the evolution of the YS engines. I have owned all but the latest 70 and 115 and have not had any real issues. Especially with my 1.40L, and I have owned a lot of that particular engine. The 1.15 is, for all intents and purposes, a bored out 1.10 with a new regulator design, but the 1.10 made YS 1.20F power in a lighter package that was easier to tune.

RE: the new y.s. motors
I have two of the YS115s and a 70s on the way, one of the 115s is in a H9 50 sundowner, one word (wow) and the other is in a GP60 stick and this also has unlimited vertical, these motors are amazing, so much power, only problem i have had is with the exhaust headers on both engines snapping off due to not enough thickness, i ended up having a friend machine two new ones out of a piece stainless tubing with no more problems, it appears that the muffler is the same as the 110s, would be interesting to know if anybody else has had break off problems with their Ys mufflers.
