Default Twin bolt-on in-cowl mufflers by Supersonic

Just bought the supersonic mufflers for a zdz 210. I haven't tried to put them on, but they look like they will go two ways, with the down tubes forward or rearward? If they can fit either way, does it matter how you mount them? I also noticed that some people insulate the top of the cans from the engine, what’s your opinion on this, is it necessary or helpful.

Rearward with the outlets closer to the centerline. No insulation necessary, but proper engine cooling including baffles and exit air spoilers are a must.
