The Walboro 71 will bring this engine back to life. Going on 30 flights so far since I replaced mine with NO issues. Runs perfect.....

Hey lennyk...

Could you explain 6-6-1.........I think I know what it means but feel that it's better to proclaim one's ignorance than sit back and prove it.

Oh, I have a Bing carb that's been giving me starting problems after the first flight and I'm going to switch to a Walbro WJ-71

Thx,

Bill

5-5-1.. once fuel reaches the carb:
5 flips with full throttle, choke closed, ignition OFF
5 flips full throttle, choke opened, ignition OFF
1 flip high idle, choke open, ignition ON and it should start.

Hey guys, I have been doing it a little different and works GREAT!!

I simply turn plane on. Then turn ignition on and full choke. I flip maybe three times and get the pop. Then choke open and flip till it starts. Usually starts about five to seven flips.

When engine is warm, I go ignition on and choke closed. I get a pop on first flip, then choke off and three flips to start.

Hope this helps. I have the older copper version ZDZ 80RV with the WJ-71 carb.

5 flips full throttle, choke opened, ignition OFF

I use the same except for the last part. I use 1 flip LOW idle (1 click up from lowest), choke open, ignition ON and it starts. Not sure if that is what you meant, but it is what I use.

I had to make my own throttle arm. The geometry I needed would not work with the stock arm. I simple made a longer arm and mounted it right on top of the other. Made for an easy fix.

OK so I also have a new Walbro 71. I am hoping this will resurect my RVJ.

Question?....... what the heck is the third black needle above the Low and High?

Thanks

Never mind. In looking at it I would assume it to be the idle needle. It is tapered and would effectivley raise the low idle if we were to keep it intact for purposes of chainsaws and lawnmowers. In the case of R/C however that feature becomes redundant once the throttle mechanism is sheared and replaced with the control arm.

Thanks

I have placed an order for a WJ71. my Bing have some little damage during last "landing...."
I profite this opportunity to not repair it, and change this **** carb and start methode to a normal carb and start process.

please let us know your basic seting for the H and L screw, to help the first startss with this new easystart engine.

Hello,

Today Ihave try my ZDZ80RV with the Walbro 71, and a new ingnition(ZDZ) the old one has decided to die.

The 80RV ran a 22x10 four blade, and a 24*12 two blade, all menz classic, the pipe, and a Crumsheid 1090.

The basic setting is LOW 2Turn, High 1.25 turn, need to be tune fine...

now the carb "pump" with very good effecienty...

regards,

Eric
