Default Help with ZDZ 40

I have a used ZDZ 40 side exhaust with 10+ gallons through. I recently sent it to RC Showcase for service: the carb was replaced with a new Bing along with the prop hub and gaskets. Now the engine starts, at least, but from full throttle to idle, the engine bottoms and dies. If I throttle down gently or modulate the throttle, it stays running. Needless to say this is a problem.

RC Showcase bench ran it and said it checked out ok.

Right now the engine's an expensive door-stop, can anyone suggest a fix/adjustment?

Thanks

Steve

All my ZDZ 40 problems went away (starting, idle, transition) when I re-gapped the plug (tighter). I think the recommended gap is just ever-so-slightly too large.

Hey Butlern,,,,,what gap did you end up with?? I can't get my ZDZ 40 RVL to idle lower than 2350 or it dies.

Been a while since I did that, Chris. I'll have to go out into the -20 degree garage and pull the plug to check. Man, it's cold in Iowa this week!

I'll be in touch tomorrow or Sat with that info.

Regards,

Noah

Chris, did you ever get the idle issues sorted out? Sorry I totally forgot to check on the plug gap for you. But, I did manage to have a look today. My gap is set at 0.019"

Might be worth a shot.

Good luck.

Noah
