Lots of space for large and small items

Very strong polypropylene case withstands abuse

Small items won't mix if box is turned over

    Lockable

For a while now I've been searching for that perfect field box. One that can hold the vast array of different tools and support equipment that are required to operate my gas, nitro, and electric vehicles and boats. But my constant searching never seemed to reward me with anything more than the dreaded tackle box. And as many of you know, tackle boxes usually come in two forms; lots of small compartments with little room for the bigger items, or big open boxes with a few small drawers.

I'm happy to say my search has ended after discovering what I feel might just be the best field box for the rc hobby available. PDY Systems' Lift-n-Lok is a tool box that features locking drawers that eliminate spilled parts. There's also ample space for large support equipment such as starters, batteries, fuel pumps, even a few quarts of nitro fuel can fit in the top compartment with room to spare! So if you, too, have been searching in vain for a real support box, please read my review of the PDY Systems' Lift-n-Lok.

    Name: Lift-n-Lok Professional Toolbox
Price: $47.45 Limited launch offer. $59.95 Post launch price

    Specs:

    Material: Polypropylene
    Weight: 9lb 10oz
    Height: 15.9"
    Width: 11.25"
    Length: 16.5"
Available colors: Bright orange, blue, olive green
    Lockable: Yes. (Lock not included)

Upon first inspection, you'll notice that the Lift-n-Lok is taller than your average tackle box. This is to facilitate the three drawers underneath the top bin. The bin is almost 6" deep and can hold all sorts of equipment which is important to anyone with starters and dry-cell batteries that doesn't want to carry them separately. You have your choice of three color combos; orange/grey, blue/grey, or green/beige. The Lift-n-Lok is made entirely of high-strength polypropylene and can definitely take it's fair share of abuse... now don't go dropping it off a building, but I'm pretty confident it can take a few licks!

The ability to secure it's drawers against accidentally sliding open is what gives the Lift-n-Lok its name. By rotating the handle forward, a cam on either side of the Lift-n-Lok pulls the drawers upwards and seals them together, preventing small nuts and bolts from mixing in the drawers. This also prevents the top bin and drawers from opening. Holding the handle in the carrying position does the same thing. Rotating the handle back unlocks everything and you can open all three drawers independently or at the same time.

Taking a look at the drawers, you'll see that each one is a different thickness to accommodate all sized items. The bottom drawer is designed for the largest tools while the middle is better for slight smaller items. I find the middle drawer a good place for car and boat batteries. The top drawer is for all your small parts such as nuts, bolts, and spares. Each drawer accepts dividers, which are included.

Now take a look at the top bin; you can actually fit a 1/10th scale car in there (not all of them) and your smaller 1/18th scale vehicles will fit with ease. The top bin is great to store your battery charger and maybe a 12 volt dry-cell battery to operate a starter and glow plug igniter. This makes the Lift-n-Lok a good choice for airplane hobbyists as well.

A good feature of the Lift-n-Lok is that the inside and bottom are lined with support ribs that add to its strength. You can actually stand on the case and not hurt it, but I advise against it since its not designed as a step. I have used the Lift-n-Lok as a seat when I'm adjusting something on my boats and it's very comfortable and it doesn't deform or bend when under my 220 lb rear! Finally, the Lift-n-Lok will accept a standard pad lock to keep people out of your box. There is a slot on the lid to lock it up tight.

The Lift-n-Lok is the perfect field carrying case for cars, boats, airplanes, and helis. It features ample storage space for large items as well as small and it's positive locking drawers keep everything safe. And because the drawers seal against each other, you can rest assured that even the smallest items will stay in their bins, even if you turn it upside-down and shake it. The above features are what sells the Lift-n-Lok storage system and I highly suggest you pick one up, you won't be disappointed.

After reading your review and checking out their website, I just ordered one. I have gone through three tackle boxes in the last year trying to find one that fits all my needs. This box seems to have it all. Thanks for the review. Got my Lift-n-Lok today. This thing is amazing. So much room and very sturdy.
