Rclightskits.com are makers of high quality led lighting systems for cars, boats, planes, and helicopters. The led package I will be testing in this review is the deluxe car led lights kit with optional green led neons. The deluxe kit comes complete with everything you need to light up the night and offers a few features that other light kits don't. One of the great aspects of this system is that it has working brake lights, reverse lights, and functioning turn signals. You also have the option of running in "police mode" which flashes the headlights and fog lights for those hot-pursuit rc car chases.

The vehicle I chose to install the deluxe light kit on is the Losi Speed T, because the thought of making 55+ mph passes in the dark was something I just had to do!

    Price: $95

The deluxe rc car led lights kit includes:

    • 2 x 2 channel micro lights control module
    • 2 x easy connector
    • 2 x white 5mm led headlights
    • 2 x blue 5mm led fog lights
    • 2 x white 3mm reverse led
    • 4 x amber 3mm turn signal led
    • 2 x red 5mm brake led
    • 6x3mm and 6x5mm plastic led mounts for lexan bodies
    • Easy to read instructions

    Optional accessories used:

    • 2 x green 1/10 size led neons w/ included tape

    Under the body
Loose wires can be held down with tape
    Brake, reverse, and blinker lights
    headlights, fog lights, and blinkers
2 light control modules zip-tied together
Easy connectors attach lights to the control modules

The led light kit came bundled neatly and ready for installation. You have total freedom when it comes to mounting your lights and you'll need a drill or body reamer to make the holes in your vehicle's body. Once the holes are drilled, place the led holders in the holes on the outside and snap the ring onto the holder from the inside, that's it! All you need to do now is slide the led into the holder and use some tape to keep the wires against the body and out of the way. I also use zip ties to bundle the loose wires. There's no doubt the wires are longer than they need to be for 1/10 scale vehicles, and that's so you can use them on larger vehicles up to 1/4 scale and not have any problems with length. Take special care not to bend the wires coming out the back of the led too much because excessive bending back and forth can cause the wire to break. Installing the led's is made easier with color coded bands up near the led. Yellow is for the turn signals, red for the brakes, blue for the fog lights, and white for the 3mm reverse lights and 5mm headlights. Installing the neons is also easy; just lay some of the included tape down on the inside of the body, running length-wise from wheel well to wheel well, then use some more tape to secure the neon strip to the body. The tape is strong and will keep the neons in place, even if you crash alot!

Now that you've installed the lights in the body and secured the wires, its time to connect the wires to the easy connector. The easy connector is an "easy" way to attach the led's to the control module and also allows you to remove the body and move it aside without disconnecting anything. The connection process seems difficult due to the large amount of connectors, but take your time and follow the step by step instructions and you'll hook them up right the first time.

The brains of the light kit are the two modules. Basically, the turn signals and reverse lights are controlled by the black module and the headlights/fogs and brake lights are controlled by the blue module. Programming the modules is done by pressing a button on the side of each module , waiting for a sequence of flashes, then push the brake, gas, and blinkers when prompted. The modules will hold the positions in its memory and apply the brakes, blinkers, etc. accordingly.

There are a number of different modes, brake settings, headlight options, and reverse light settings to choose from. Police light is one of my favorite modes because it really calls attention to your car or truck, the headlights and fogs flash in sequence like an unmarked police car. To cycle between headlights on, headlights off, and police mode, rapidly pull the throttle from center to full 3 times. If you drive an electric or nitro vehicle without reverse, you can program the reverse lights to stay off when hitting the brakes. On the first push of brake the brake lights will activate. Going back to center and re-applying brake will switch the reverse lights on and turn off the brakes.

Driving around with a fully functional light kit is extremely entertaining. No longer are you limited to daylight hours in the local parking lot to get your dose of rc therapy, and the darker it is, the better. The green neons cast a very rich green glow under the truck and the white and blue driving lights throw an impressive beam across the pavement. The brake lights are the best part of the whole package, cause everyone wants functional brake lights on an rc car, it just looks so cool to slam on brakes and have the rear end light up red! The blinkers work as they should; turn left or right and the bright orange led's blink about every half-second on the front and back.

Run time was almost as long as it was before the lights were installed. Infarct, I could barely notice any loss at all; Power consumption is surprisingly minimal on this high-tech lighting system. Another nice feature is the memory; the modules will remember whatever settings you are in when you turn the vehicle off.

The only fault I could find with this very high quality kit is that the led's can back out of their plastic led holders. I've found if you tape the wires to the body as close as possible to the led's, that will keep them held securely in the holders. Other than that, the kit is fantastic.

RCLightsKits.com has created a diverse lighting system with many adjustable parameters to suit your vehicle or your personal preference. The brake lights light up, the blinkers work, reverse lights function, and the headlights and fog lights are super bright. What more could you ask for? Power consumption is minimal and programming the kit is a piece of cake. I would recommend this deluxe lighting system as the premiere kit on the market today. Now go have fun in the dark!
