    RC Lube Synthetic Teflon Lubricant

Are you tired of messing with tubes of lubricant that seem to have more in common with toothpaste than something you'd use on your RC car or truck? Generally tubes or cups of grease are a very messy solution to an age-old problem, which is how to get the lube from the pitbox to the part. Enter RC Lube, with a Teflon-based lube, and a very cool method for dispensing it.

The delivery method used for the Teflon is unlike anything I've come across before. It uses a syringe-based applicator with a blunt tip on it. This applicator is definitely one of the best benefits to their product, as it allows for precise delivery of the lube similar to a needle-oiler does. This delivery system also keeps your hands cleaner, and wastes less lubricant than traditional delivery methods. One package of RC Lube contains 3cc of lube, along with the plunger, syringe, and needle applicator.

Now that I've told you about the applicator, there's still more to cover regarding the actual lube itself. It's a custom blend of a synthetic lubricant, with Polytetrafluroethylene (PTFE), or commonly referred to as Teflon. While other lubricants may boast they contain Teflon, RC Lube boasts close to 10% of Teflon mixed in with their lube. This exceeds other similar lubricants currently on the market. In the end, this extends the life of components, as well as reducing wear and friction.

According to RC Lube, this product works well for any place on your RC vehicle that requires a lubricant. So to test how well it actually works, I opted to use it on a few of my vehicles. The first test for it was providing lubrication for the CVD's on a Losi LST. So during a teardown and rebuild, I used some RC Lube to coat the insides of the CVD's ball joint. Then I reassembled the parts onto the truck and bashed it over several weeks. After some time had passed, I tore a couple of the CVD axles down again and examined them. The ales looked just as they had when I previously tore them down. So with no unnecessary wear in this scenario, I opted to try a different scenario.

    More Expensive Than Other Lubricants

This time around, I used my Revo as a testing platform. While I was performing some routine maintenance before a race, I applied RC Lube to my front and rear differential's ring and pinion gears. Then I reassembled the truck, and hit the track the following day. Over the course of the next few weeks, I raced and practiced with the truck at the track on several occasions.

Weeks later, I arrived at a point where I wanted to change the differential oil, and so tore the truck apart and examined the differentials. The RC Lube seemed as if it had worked just as good in this scenario as it had with the CVD axles. I couldn't see where any wear had occurred, and the ring and pinion gears still had a good slick feeling to their surfaces. If the RC Lube can hold up in this sort of environment, there isn't much that would phase it!

I'm really surprised that it took this long before someone decided to bring a product like this to the market. I've always hated fooling with grease, as it's usually messy. Even after cleaning your hands, you still feel the effects of the grease later on as you continue to tighten down the various screws that hold the vehicle together. The syringe-based applicator that RC Lube uses makes applying their lubricant quick, easy, and mess-free. In addition, the lubricant itself is of excellent quality as well, protecting whatever you find that you may need to apply it to.

The only fault I can find is with the fact that the lubricant I priced a little higher than other conventional brands you'll run across. I attribute this to the amount of Teflon used, as well as the fact the syringe applicator costs more to provide than a standard plastic tube does. I'd love to see offer a refill kit that includes a larger amount of their lube, to make refilling the applicator more cost-effective over the long term. Regardless though, I cannot deny the convenience nor the effectiveness of their product overall, and I give it a big thumbs up based upon those very facts!
