Jason's
love for RC started with his first remote control
car at the age of nine. It was purchased at Radio
Shack and lasted a total of two days. Of course he
had administered 16 hours of abuse in that time! It
was clear to his parents that he was ready for a more
sophisticated (read: durable) piece of equipment.
Ten minutes later he was at the hobby shop buying
the next 'dose' of what would be a life long addiction.
 |
His
interest in surface RC expanded to the skies,
when at age 11 he purchased his first airplane.
He and is dad spent two weeks assembling the foam
Cessna. The plane was finished and ready for flight
but his father had to go on a business trip. We
all know the limitless bounds of an 11 year olds
curiosity (and his lack of patience). So with
his dad out of town, Jason headed off to the school
yard to send his new bird up for its maiden-solo!
The short (10 second), but spectacular flight
was the end of Jason's model airplane career untill
he hit the age of 24.

Eight
years ago Jason and his Dad jumped into the world
of RC aviation again, determined to make a go of it.
They had spent years wrenching on 4x4 Jeeps together
and were searching for a new "loftier" sport!
Together their appetite for planes was legendary,
starting with smaller aerobatic airplane, then 25%
size, then 33% size and so on. Their focus on aerobatics
led, in 1999 to Las Vegas where they would witness,
first hand, the 'Tournament of Champions'. Seeing
the best in the world performing 3D aerobatics, down
low, with huge, beautiful airplanes seared a vivid
image in Jason's mind and sent him on a mission to
"push his personal limits". Jason dabbled
in IMAC, but his passion was always for 3D. He flew
every type of plane he could and always pushed them
to the edge.
| In
the past few years, Jason has competed in many
IMAC and SCAT contests and has been a performer
at air shows and demonstrations. You can count
on him to show up with an aircraft beyond the
expected, whether it is his massive 240cc powered
Pitts Biplane, a 110" Mustang, or an unlimited
aerobatic plane decked out in hotrod flames. Jason
is outspoken and fun loving, and the first guy
to pick up a wrench to help a fellow modeler.
He represents the prototypical modeler who didn't
grow up flying contests, but has devoured the
hobby and enjoyed it to its limits. |

Today
Jason has a wonderful family of his own with one young
boy and another on the way. He thoroughly enjoys sharing
the hobby with his son and with thousands of people
across the world. Jason, together with Joe McBride
founded the 'Flying Cirkus', which can be found here
at RCU. Jason's primary goal is to share with others
his enthusiasm and expertise in 3D and to give back
to the less experienced, what so many have given to
him.
Jason wants to thank his wife and all of his supporters
over the past years that have been there for him.
