I'm putting this out to see if anyone is interested in taking on a project. This is a nicely built Yellow Spitfire MkXIV. I'm the second owner and as far as I know, the aircraft has never been crashed or severely damaged. I flew it in 2015 and it handles fantastic, one of the best flying warbirds I've ever had. However, it continually had a vibration issue that caused cracking in the lower cowl and the elevator hinges to loosen. After extensive trial and error I determined this to be a result of the firewall. The original owner built it with a 3W50, then swapped to a DA50 which caused the firewall to be weakened. Not knowing if the DA50 was damaged, I swapped in a DLE-55 but the results were the same. So I decided to swap in a new firewall and that's where I stopped. I repaired the elevator hinges but no longer have time to work on it and would like to sell it to someone who doesn't mind doing a little work to get it back in the air. I'm NOT interested in trades nor am I desperate to sell it, my price is firm.
The Spitfire has an 88 wingspan, comes with the DLE-55, several carbon props, two spinners, Yellow Main and TW retracts, Yellow scale wheels, Hitech HS5645MG servos, new firewall, and other hardware required to get it going again. It also has some really nice custom made wing/tail bags and custom stand. Pretty much everything you need except the receiver and batteries.
I will not ship it because I am recovering from an arm injury which prevents me from lifting or building a crate or anything heavy. I will be glad to meet within 100 miles of Baltimore.
