Project completed and flown, now need to make way for the next one
Willing to Trade:
This is my 98 span Avro Vulcan bomber
****NEW FLYING VIDEO ADDED****
Built from a Tony Nijhuis plan but incorporating several modifications to increase scale fidelity.
Eleven flights on her since the maiden. She is capable of replicating all of the manoeuvres of the original, though I have never attempted to perform any aerobatics such as looping or completely rolling her
Fully built up construction of Balsa and ply skinned with 3/4oz glass cloth. Finishing is 2k PPG the upper surfaces and 2k epoxy on the under surfaces. Markings are a mixture of painted on and waterslides. Upper surfaces sealed with 50% flat ppg clear and anti flash white under surfaces finished with 2k PPG gloss.
The undercarriage is electric with main gear doors servo operated. There is no central box for the landing gear, all electronics are self contained in each unit. Slave main doors are opened and closed by the legs. The nose gear doors are opened by spring tension and closed by the nose leg. I use a three position switch as my preference. 1st position everything open and extended, 2nd position retracts the legs, nose doors and slave main doors and the 3rd position closes the main doors. A sequencer could be added though. No brakes are fitted to this model but I have found no need for them due to the high angle of attack on landing leading to a low landing speed. Rolling resistance is sufficient to control the taxi.
Guidance is an airtronics SD10g and 10 channel rx which is included in the sale Power is provided by four onboard lipos, two for the powerbox, one for the engine, one for the landing lamps. The tx also uses a lipo. In the case of international shipping these will be removed. Jr servos are mounted all over with metal ball joint rod ends and m3 steel pushrods.
Engine is a low houred Jetcat p100 rx (exact hours to follow when I check them after this last weekends flying session) The jetpipe is from tamjets
Two large dubro fuel tanks and good quality bubble trap are installed in parallel and are carefully plumbed such that they drain equally. Timer is currently set to 6 minutes at the start of the take off roll with landing on the 7th minute. After shut down and taxi back approximately three fifths of fuel are remaining.
Included in the sale is: 1, One ready to fly 98 Avro Vulcan with jetcat p100rx and sanwa sd10 radio system. The aircraft will need batteries and fuelling then will be ready to take to the field and fly.
2, One emailed package of photographs detailing the construction
3, One emailed document detailing the control throws and mixes required. These will already be in the radio but may be needed in the future or if you change radios
4, One set of brand new like for like replacement electric retract units (no oleos)
5, Worldwide crating and shipping DDU is included in the sale price
Please bear in mind that this model is built by hand from a plan and parts. It is also a model of a very large aircraft and as such the surface detailing is minimal. I think that she is finished very well but this is subject to opinion. I would be delighted to answer any questions or add any particular images that you may require. Any areas that you wish to be altered within reason will be altered free of charge prior to sale.
International shipping will be conducted in a custom made 18mm thick exterior plywood crate with internal padding and bracing to prevent transit damage. This will be my 7th large model jet shipped worldwide and so I have the system sorted now. Shipping will be via cargo courier such as ups, FedEx, TNT, DHL or similar on restricted signed for delivery. Insurance is optional and can be provided at cost.
I will put up a flying video on youtube later and add the link,
