    Item Description:

This is a Balsa USA 1/3 scale Super Cub with a 140" wing span.  I purchased this kit about 6 years ago and started working on it about 2 years ago.  I am also in the process of building a Ziroli Texan and Twin Beach so I have to sell something to make room.

Most of the framing is complete and has been meticulously built.  Everything has been fitting together very well with no problems whatsoever.  The wings are done and the ailerons and flaps are hinged and the servo trays are installed.

The fuse is mostly finished but still has some work left before the wings can be attached and the struts installed.  I did not add the hinges yet to the rudder.

This is a very high quality kit and I have done a very good job building everything up to this point so you would not be buying someone else's problems.  Included is everything that you get in the kit if you were to buy it directly from Balsa USA. All of the remaining wood, fiberglass cowl, fuel tank, wheels, complete set of plans, and miscelaneous hardware items are included and are still in the original bags.

I paid $650 for the kit.  The landing gear is not assembled when you buy the kit so I sent it back to Balsa USA to have them weld it together because I am not a very good welder.  The cost for this service is $150 (believe it or not!).  So I have $800 invested in this kit including the professionally welded landing gear.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the kit and I beleive the workmanship is excellent.  Much of the work has already been done for you but there is still enough left to do yourself.  I had planned on putting a DA 50 in it for power which would be plenty of power.  I originally planned on using a Zenoah GT80 twin but it was just too big (size and power).  It would have required me cutting openings in the cowl and I just didn't want to do that so I removed the firewall and have the new firewall cut and sized for the DA50.  That's where I ended so I did not re-install the firewall.  This way it can be placed wherever needed for your choice of engine.

This is too big to ship but I would be willing to drive to within 100 miles of Green Bay, WI.  If you need more pictures just send me an email and I will send them to you.

    Thanks for looking.

    Hi,

Thanks, I will certainly keep it in mind. It's funny but I have two friends that are leaving Florida and coming back home to Green Bay next week. It's too bad you weren't selling the plane instead!!!

I'll be sure to let you know if I know someone.

    Steve,

I've been looking at building the AMR 1/3 scale Cub, but your's has some interest. From the kit stand point, what would it take to convert it to a J-3, besides the cowl? BTW, we will be leaving Florida around the end of April, heading back to the Twin Cites. Add us to the list of snowbirds.

    Hi Chuck,

Thank you for your interest in my Super Cub kit. From what I understand, the basic difference between the J3 Cub and the Super Cub is the cowl as you mentioned and the fact that the Super Cub has flaps and the J3 only has an aileron. Those are the two biggest differences that I am aware of but if you want a more complete explanation I would suggest contacting Balsa USA direct at 906-863-6421 and ask for Mark Enderby or Dave Lewis. Those guys can tell you everything that you need to know.

I am not in a hurry to sell the plane so if you thought you might be remotely interested, I would not mind holding it for you until you come back in early May. I live right off of highway 29 and I'm assuming that would be the highway you would be taking back to the Twin Cities. I would do this for you with no commitment whatsoever. Just let me know if you think that's what you would like to do.

    Have a safe trip back.

Yes, the windshield and windows are all included. I just didn't take a picture of everything. I am selling the entire kit just as I bought it from Balsa USA. All of the parts, pinking tape, sheet metal, windows etc. are included. Nothing has been removed from the kit.

    Thanks.

    Hi again,

I'm sorry again that this took so long but I overlooked the fact that you sent two questions yesterday and when I noticed it I was at work and unable to measure the cowl. So, that being said, the width of the cowl is about 10-10-1/2" at the front end depending on where you measure it. This should give you a pretty good idea of how much room you will have.

Any other questions, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Steve
