    Item Description:

Herbrandson Engines modified for RC use and in good condition are EXTREMELY rare, but ironically parts are still available...

This engine was sold to me as a Herbrandson 289, but I'm now told its actually a 218cc twin. I just got it back from Ralph Cunningham. It crashed in a 75lb scratch built warbird so I wanted it thoroughly gone through. Ralph gave it a clean bill of health. Turns a 32x12 at about 6600 rpm, so it has similar power to other 200cc class engines. The key difference is the way this beauty is built. It's like a Rolex inside and it has such a solid crankcase and big bearings, the thing is the smoothest twin I've ever run. It pulled a 75 lb warbird like it was no big deal, sounds totally BAD with a big bark. Weighs about 13 lbs bare. Herbrandson builds engines for UAVs and they are built to exacting standards with very high reliability. Comes with ignition, but no mufflers. Previous owner had a very nice prop hub and mounting plate custom machined, very high quality. This engine is extremely compact for it's size (Large bore, short stroke). German Mahle Cylinders and pistons look perfect, can barely turn it over by the prop hub it has so much compression. Along with a thorough inspection, Ralph rebuilt both carbs with new gaskets and diaphrams.

Apart from a few cooling fins that are slightly bent, motor is in fantastic condition.

Own a piece of American Engineering and workmanship!!!

    Thanks for looking.
