    Item Description:

Yellow Aircraft F-18C Hornet RTF W/O Turbine

This is a kit built YA F-18C Hornet in Chippy Ho Paint Schemes with many scale details.

It has won several award for best military jets, best scale jets.. A proven airframe for 160-180N size turbine.

    1. Full Ordnance - Missiles, drop tanks, pylons all included
    2. Functional Canopy
    3. Functional Airbrake
    4. Scale cockpit with Pilot
    5. All JR servos and RX

Add Turbine, Bind and Go Fly

Built by professional builder, over $10,000 invested. Priced to sell.

This F18 is a kit built so it does not have the typical ARF type of aircraft look such as seam lines, non scale doors, etc. It's basically a very scale jet. The rudder and elevators control linkages are internal.

It comes with functional canopy, air brake, operational tail hook. I still need to get the radio so I can charge it and open up the cockpit area.

Usage factor - This is not a new jet. It's been around for many year. Excluding dust collected during storage, this jet appears to be about 70-75% new. It has the following damages

    1. Left wing tip - the missiles fin (has partial chips, missile rail crack) possible cause of damage due to wing tip scraping on the runway or transport.

2 - 1 2x1' rough spot on the top of the hatch behind canopy. See photo. It seems to be some glue left on it or some thing like Antenna that came loose and left a rough spot on it.

Landing gear. - The mechanical structures have no damages or bent, very little slop for the size. all door cylinders travels smoothly. all unbroken. main tires seem about 20-25% wore. Nose tires still have threads on it.

Ordnance - Only missiles. Did not have the 3 drop tanks. Although I can see the functional pylon and release mechanism for the drop tanks.

Engine bay - It has a tail pipe. a metal UAT tank. all fuel lines secured with blue tapes.

Internal structures - No visibile cracks, but seem a bit busy and messy but all former(bulkheads) are made of solid wood. Bottom corners of landing gear sections are all carbon fiber reinforced.

Effort to make it air worthy: Check all control linkages, install turbine, replace battery. Change Receiver, fix minor cracks as described.

Hi! I am very interested in your plane! Is this the newer carbon fiber version? If not, what have you done to reinforced your plane? What engine are you using? When was it built? How many flights do you have on this air plane? Also, can I get some recent detailed pictures? Thanks

Hi! Is this the carbon fiber F18 kit that is the newer turbine version or is the the older kit that has been modified to work with a turbine? If this is the older kit! What modifications did you do in order for it to fly with a turbine? I would hate to spend this type of money and the have a wing snap or worse! I hope you understand? Did you have a turbine in mind when you built this jet? Did you install any carbon fiber? Where? Thanks

    Mike,

One of these Chippy Ho's were built for this owner (I believe by Tam) which had dihedral in the wings. Is this a different jet? Do you have any pics of it head-on with the wings attached? Thanks in advance for answering here if you're too busy to respond to emails/pm's.

Your right, in the flying pics it looks like it has dihedral. Second photo on the ground too.

Ok! Really interested in buying this plane! Is this the carbon fiber version for turbine or the older version that has been modified to fly with turbine? If this is the older version ,what modifications did you make to make it safe to fly with turbine?

    "
Not sure which version this is, but it's been built to fly turbine since day one and it's proven with a JetCat 180 originally equipped. There are carbon reinforcement around the main fuselage section. It's been flown hard by the best pilots when have in So. California. It was never built as an Df jet from the get go.

Also if I remember correctly it was immediately upgraded to an AMT Olympus which is the engine it flew with its entire life

    Hi,

For those asking about which kit--this is the second-to-last iteration of the kit. That means the fuse is epoxy and not polyester (although the polyester ones are just fine). Contrary to common belief, this kit was not sold as a turbine kit until the most recent version. The version this bird was built from needed only one modification to be safe for turbine power, and the builder (Tam) made that mod which can be seen in the photos. The two main bulkheads came cut out for DF--but the mod was to add a reinforcement. You can see the very substantial doubler glued onto the stock bulkhead. The wings are already carbon reinforced.

Thank you Shaun. Yes. It's built strong and had been flown vigorously with an AMT turbine.
