RCU/OMP 2005 VTOC Official Rules:
The contest entry deadline is
May 1st.
You may use a video camcorder or screen capture program
like Fraps or Hypercam to make the video. You may mix
your video with music if you wish. Please try to avoid
using any fancy video utilities. The contest is based
on the skills of the flyer, not the video presentation.
You may add a title to the begining and end of the video.
No cheating is allowed. You must fly at a rate of speed
that is considered "life like", not in slow
motion. You may use any PC based RC simulator program. You may use any aircraft
from any of the programs, both from the box or a downloaded
version. The 2 Classes for the VTOC contest will be;
Helicopter Unlimited and Fixed Wing Unlimited. There
will be 2 Levels per Class, Intermediate and Open.
With the exception of a couple simple pre-requisites
for the contest, this will be a "give it all you got"
type flying contest. You will be able to submit 1
video per Class. Meaning each RCU member may submit
1 video for Heli and 1 video for Fixed Wing. Fixed
wing is any aircraft with wings, including warbird,
jets and foamys.
Each video submitted must be sent in as .WMV format. Since there are
no Mac RC simulators available, this should not be
a problem. If you need a good video converter for
your format you can use the free Windows Movie Maker found at Microsoft's website.
Each video submitted must be greater then 2 minutes, but not be longer
then 4 minutes of run time. Each video must be compressed
to no greater then 15MBs. Again, you can use the Windows Movie Maker to compress your file. The video is going
to be based on the flying, not the video quality.
The better it can be seen by the judges, the better
your chances are to win.
Each >4 minute video submitted may only be spliced in no more then
2 takes. Meaning you cannot splice more then 2 clips
together. You can do 1 four minute video, or 2 two
minute videos. Or even a 1 minute and a 3 minute.
However they must all be on the same file. The best
way to make your videos is with a timer that will
ding with 15-20 seconds left. It will be difficult
to look at your clock on the computer while flying.
Each submitted video must begin with a takeoff and end with a landing.
Once you take off, there is no landing until you are
finished. Once you land your plane or heli, the video
is over. There will be no tail touches or contact
of any kind allowed with the ground or any scenery
object allowed once you have taken off. This has nothing
to do with the AMA rules, this is to keep it the contest
fair for all.
There will be no rules other then listed in the paragraphs above.
This contest is going to be judged by the members
of RCU, so just give them the best you have in each
Class and Level of the contest. You may fly any routine
with any style. A good piece of advice is to use a
mixture of maneuvers which will give you a better
chance of winning then someone just hovering and basic
3D moves.
