Default Best 1/18 on a budget

Looking at the Losi desert truck, HPI recon, SC18. Whats the best out there in this category for value, quality, durability and tunability down the road. If there's something better I'd like to know. I'd like to keep it around $150. If there's soemthing that is outstanding at a larger scale (for the same $$$)feel free to let me know as well.

cheers

Out of all of the 1/18 RC's I have owned I would have to say the Associated RC18T was a pretty durable truck. But the Mini Recon from HPI looks pretty good and if it is as durable as their RC's then for $100 it is a really good buy.

have to agree with T9dragon the ae 18,s are about the best bet outa the box, they handle nice and have decent speed bone stock . the desert truck is neat but kinda long and lazy handling but fun. the recon looks like a good truck to but i personally have no experience with the hpi

I agree as well, the RC18 series from Associated are time tested, high quality, and have insane amounts of hop ups.

I've also heard a lot of bad things about the rc18t2 and rc18b2 chassis from Foxy and a few other people. You'd probably be best off with the original rc18t or rc18b.

The radio came with my B4.1, its kind of heavy, uses eight AA batteries, and sucks the batteries right up. If you have the extra money, get one of these-http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...203GF-Receiver
