If you can give me the diameter and tooth count of the gear you have, we can get to a very near perfect pitch estimate. Then again, I am assuming you don't have an accurate measuring tool (calipers/micrometer) since you are asking the shaft size on motor .

Most 390 sized motors will have 1/8" (3.175 mm) shafts, but one WLToys pinion gear description says the pinion is 2.3mm. I think that is a typo.

Hi rusty, thanks for your reply. I don't have a micrometer no but i maybe able to borrow one from work and get back to you with a more accurate description.
Its a 17tooth pinion.
As for the shaft 2.3mm sounds about right to me. If i had to guess i would of said 2mm. I pretty sure its not a 3mm.

I just not familiar the the WLtoys brand of gear. When I think of 2.3mm shafts, I'm seeing helicopters in my head . Look at the manual for part numbers and search for that part. When I go out and look for a RC to purchase, one of the first things I do after I find a few models that interest me, I download the manual. No manual...no purchase .

Yes i do have the manual but all it tells me is that its a 17tooth pinion. It doesn't mention anything about pitch etc.
I can get the parts including pinion gear but only from china. So i thought if i can find out the pitch i could maybe have a hunt around here in the uk for an alternative.
The dimensions are:
2.3mm bore (for motor shaft)
13.15mm overall diameter of the gear.
17Tooth.
One thing i do know is that is not a straight 32dp pitch. But its close.
Anyway hope this helps

Default WLToys a99 series pinion pitch:

The WLToys a99 series 1/18 scale rc cars (as well as the 144001 1/14 scale and some others) use a 0.7M, or 7 Modulus, pitch gear. WLToys supplies either a 17 tooth or 27 tooth depending on the model car you purchased. Hobbyking, ebay and a few others have some different tooth options available but that said many are for helicopters and so come with a 5mm shaft size where the shaft size on a stock motor in the a99 car is 3.175mm so an adapter will be needed to use most of the available 0.7mod pinions out there.
Hope this helps anyone landing here.
And good bashing come all !!!
