need power!!
im planing on duing a nitro rc18mt. ill be useing a plane engine that puts out .38hp and 22,000rpm. do you think this will be enough to power it?
the engine weighs as much as the batt. if that.the fuel tank probably wiehgs what the stock moter and esc wiegh. so its well balenced out . plus the rx batt

RE: need power!!
Damn, first it was HUGE Mini - T shocks and now it's nitro RC18's. Yo just keep coming with crazy ideas lol. I like the sound of a nitro mini. I saw a vid on the internet of a Mini T powered by a 0.61 airplane engine, man that was sick. The thing reached like 60 mph. Keep us updated with pics/plans.
On the topic of stupid things, I found an old 0.049 airplane engine with no carburettor, it's just a turn on and let it go job. What do you reckon I could do with it? I was thinking of a nitro powered hair dryer lol!

RE: need power!!
I think it should be ok, for power,
Its going to be fun just to have a nitro mini
I belive the mamba electric motors probably do pack more power and with super light lipos that would be you best bet for huge power
I have seen vids of them doing 60mph and I cannot amagine how hard it would be to control at that speed for something that small.
I think 40mph is fast on my TC3 and something half the size doing 50% faster would be uncontrolable!

RE: need power!!
i expect it to go about 30-35mph stock gearing. so not completly uncontrolable.
i am woryed about the tourque though. i know it will be ok for onroad but im buildin it for off. plus it has big tires

I hella prefer the smell of nitro to sheer electric power. If you saw RabidRacer's huge Mini-T shocks you'll realise he's pretty insane. Not all crazy ideas have to have a purpose. It would be pretty cool knowing your the only guy in the world with a nitro RC18T.

RE: need power!!
yeah. You could like do a driving on water stunt lol. The only problem is the fan would have to be at the front because it was designed for a plane so it would drag the car along. The problem with that is that if it hits anyone (or if you have to grab it to stop it) it would mince up that guy leg (OUCH!!!)

RE: need power!!
Do you do any modelling? If so, use an old Tamiya 10ml paint bottle, drill a hole throught the lid and shove some fuel tubing through. Done!
I like your new pic (or avetar to those more fancy people lol!)

RE: need power!!
Would it be possible to take a brushless out of something else like an airplane engine or just find some brushless engine on google and put that in. I think it would be a lot cheaper than buying a mamba, and you might also be able to get one faster with a higher torqe than the mamba.[8D]
Has anyone heard of anyone taking a brushless out of something else?
here's a link with some motors that I think would work. http://www.hobby-lobby.com/model_motors.htm

RE: need power!!
Yeah, Mini T's are more popular for crazy stunts like this than RC18's. Possibly because of motor placement? Probably though as everyone uprgarades to RC18's they have a Mini T lying around though .
