hey
this thread is pretty old but i dont think it has died yet lol
so the kmi09 used to be 350 now its only 200 at amain
i probably am getting one as its on my wishlist and its in my dads price range
my questions are
if anyhthing has to be done to it
i read the rc car action review and they said all it needs would be heavier shock oil
and sway bars
true? what shock oil i got 40 wt 50 wt 35 wt and 80 wt
what other things will i need if i get this
how does it perform
seems pretty cool with all the racey features
how is the engine
i heard it is only single needle
does this make a difference
thanks alot you guys + happy holidays!

Hello, I'm thinking about ordering this: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/4998
But the description is vague. Is it 4wd? Is it RTR? Does it come with a battery? Charger? What is needed to complete this?
Also, is this a quality mini? Or would the Mini LST be a better choice?
Thanks!

That is for just the Mini Inferno ST. Yes, it is 4-wheel drive. You will need batteries for the radio, saddle pack for the truggy and if you don't have a charger you will need that to. It is a much better choice then the Mini-LST.

Dragging this thread back up from the depths to ask a question. For those of you with a KMI 09 or 09ST, does your clutchbell have noticable fore-aft play? Mine sure does. I've checked and re-checked to make sure every washer/shim etc is in place. The problem is that when the bell moves forward, either the face of the bell or some debris is grinding against the spur. If I can take a decent picture to illustrate, I'll post it when I get home from work. There's some nice swirl marks on the bell face and the pinion is getting boogered up from whatever is happening in there--spur looks fine though...

RE: the official kyosho haf 8 electric and 09 mini inferno thread .
OK, I got my kit in record time- Toyz.com is great on shipping.
I have a bunch of questions after reading through this whole thread..
1) Is there any way to tell if you have the shocks that can take oil or not? Mine is the type-3 electric KMI..
2) If I want to convert to 1/10 scale car wheels/tires, what do I need?
3) Where do I need to upgrade to ball-bearings?
4) I ordered a couple of NiMH, saddle battery packs (8 mini- cells, marketed just for the KMI).. Do I need to upgrade anything else within the car to handle this battery? Or, is the stock car (motor, esc, drivetrain) able to handle the increase in voltage?
5) If anyone has raced along with RC18T/B's, how do these two vehicles compare in stock form?
Thanks!
Jason

What does your manual say? Take one apart and see if there is oil in it.
2) If I want to convert to 1/10 scale car wheels/tires, what do I need?
I think thetoyz.com had the adapters. You would need touring car wheels and front buggy tires.[/color]
3) Where do I need to upgrade to ball-bearings?
In the front knuckles and rear hubs.

You need to get the rubber slipper pads.
5) If anyone has raced along with RC18T/B's, how do these two vehicles compare in stock form?
In stock form the 18T/B's are faster.

Aha! RTFM!!! Darn it, I just finished reading the manual, and it actually answered some of my questions! Who would have thunk it!
So, the manual for the electric KMI shows no oil in the shocks, and lists oil shocks as an "option" part. There was some question in my mind as to whether there would be oil shocks included after all, after I'd read in one forum or another somewhere that the oil shocks were now included. After perusing Kyosho's website (actually pretty good info there!) I figured it out- it seems the nitro KMI includes the oil shocks, the e-version apparently does not. Kyosho wants 80 bucks for front and rear shocks- I just bought aluminum oil shocks from 3racing, 21 bucks..
Also, t9dragon, you are correct sir! The manual indeed states, if you go to the 8 cell battery pack, it recommends upgrade to bearings for the front knuckles and rear hubs. I again opted for 3racing equivalents here for pretty big savings.
I'll now look into the rubber slipper pads and tires.. Thanks for the info!!!

Hey, BuzzBomber- small world man! Or, small RCUniverse anyways! I recognize your name from one of the R/C flying forums- I'm guessing 1/2a or Parkzone Stryker..

Hey guys, I just got the Mini Inferno ST today. It seems like it could be fun if it was a little faster. Would a brushless motor do the trick? Will the drivetrain handle this upgrade? What are the dual battery packs they show in the maunual? Can I order them somewhere?

It is called a saddle pack and you can get them on ebay or from www.maxxamps.com or www.cheapbatterypack.com.
Brushless is a good upgrade, the best combo is the Wraith 7k motor and a Quark ESC.
