FT-RC18B
I'm thinking about getting a factory team RC18B. I have the electronics covered, I will get a DP gear cover and will be borrowing one of my dads batteries for a while since I will be short on money. I do have a few questions.....
When I don't have my mamba in it, I would like to use my novak spy and the 18b's stock 380 sized motor. On novak's site it says the motor limit is 380, then at the bottom of the page says not to use a 380 or 540 sized motor. So does anybody use a spy with a 380 sized motor? If not, my dad upgraded to the mamba so I could always use his stock electronics if I had to.
How will the aluminum dogbones hold up to a brushless motor? My dad's stock (plastic) dogbones have high wear. I know cvd's would be the best thing, but don't have the money.
How good are the shocks? Are they any better than the stock shocks besides being threaded? I'm actually impressed the stock ones work as well as they do.
btw, this will not be replacing my mini-t and will be my first associated >>>>>
Thanks for any help,

RE: FT-RC18B
Here it is,
I got it Tuesday and built most of it that night. The gear cover came Wednesday so I put that in and glued the tires. Thursday morning at 5am it was completely finished. I adjusted on the car and painted the body on Thursday.
The only problems were- I lost a diff ball and had to buy a rebuild kit ($2 big whoop). My servo was bigger than stock and took some effort to be fitted. My reciever was bigger than I thought so I am useing my dads stock radio for now.
Here are some pics from Thursday after completion, I'll have pics with the body on later.

Why are you using the stock mounts? With that servo you are supposed to use the ft mounts (which should of came with it) and the ft servo saver stuff.

The glue is medium ca glue, also used on rc planes. I think it expired or something, doesn't look right. As long as it holds the tire on i'm happy. It's covered in dirt now anyways.
That servo mount was the only one I saw. I had to cut away the inside so it would fit. I have the servo saver but the screw that threads into the servo is to short. This is a temporary fix so I can drive it.

Here are pics with the body on. It really isn't the best at all. I hurried it along so I could drive the car. It came out ok though.
Also for fun, here is my mini-t. It has no electronics for now (shelf queen status). I am going to put the mamba back in though for some dirt oval racing at my LHS. The body was an experimental one. I tried using the liquid mask that lets you freehand designs with an exacto. I also tried to do a marble effect but it came out looking like "liquid hot magma".
