Default Stock RC18R radio bad range with mamba?

hey guys,
I have my 18r set up with a mamba micro pro w/the 8000 motor. its really fast, but my radio range has been terrible. It goes maybe 20 feet before it starts picking up signals and going in different directions. I am just wondering, is there any way I can get better range out of the stock radio? Or is it just crap? it worked ok when it was stock.

Thanks,
Dean

try braiding the 3 wires from the esc and motor. then twist the battery wires from the battery and the esc inputs leads so that when they are plugged in they stay twisted (if you do it wrong, as soon as you let go they will untwist)

braiding the esc & motor wires is the most effective of the two. you see this done often in car & home audio to keep rf noise out of signal carrying interconnects. this is the same principle, but in reverse. you are trying to keep interference from escaping the wires and disturbing your radio equipment.

keep all other wiring (servo, battery, esc, motor) as far away from your rx and antenna as possible.

lemme know if you try it!

Was it that way before you mambafied it? Check your wiring. depending on how jumbled your wires are,the mambamay interfere.

I am using a 2s 2100 lipo. I put RF filters on the wires and it helped but it made my mamba glitch more. so I took off the throttle one and it works ok for now. still not good range, but good enough for the racing I was doing. I will try twisting the wires.

Thanks,
Dean

yes, braid the three leads from the esc to the motor!
