Cool!! Just don't know if I'd buy one. Traxxas had so much success with the Mini-Revo platform they are using it for all their latest 1/16 editions. It doesn't look like the Mini-Summit doesn't has the working light kit.

i think that it looks pretty sweet but it looks like its basically my mini revo with different tires and body...</p>

So it's an 1/16 E-Revo with a new body and tires. Didn't see this coming.

and a different back bumper and body post ;)
Yea heard yesterday about it got excited, and wanted one till I heard there not putting in a remote locking diff... which killed the point IMO

Might just get the body posts, and rear bumper mount(and use my RPM bumper) when it comes out and make my revo into one.
Looking at these pics the arms even look the same...

Pretty dissappointing, isn't it?

Leaves me wondering if the 1/16th Rally is just a mini-slash with a tire and body change.

gforce2448 10-21-2010 03:58 PM

RE: Official Traxxas 1/16 Summit VXL

It is basically. Mini-Slash and Rally. The a-arms and links are the same length. Just the body mounts, body, bumpers and shocks I believe are different. Just like the Mini-Summit is basically a Mini-Revo. The only thing that looks different is the tires and body. They probably geared it down a little for the larger tires but that's it. No locking diffs or light kit???? Come on!!!

doesn't deserve to be called the mini summit, seems like traxxas is trying to be like losi no though by creating smaller versions of their vehicles

Kinda having a Tamiya-moment are ya?
Super Blackfoot being another version of the Blackfoot, Blackfoot being based on the Frog, Lunchbox being based on the Grasshopper, etc.

um the super blackfoot was an updated version of the original blackfoot. any ways you obviously didn't understand what i was talking about. and the only thing the lunchbox has that the grasshopper has is the gear box. seriously if you are going to post lean the facts. i wasn't complaining about them being based off of a different platform. it just doesn't deserve to be called the mini summit because it doesn't have all the features that the summit has.

Updated, smupdated, a blackfoot is a blackfoot. You really need to study up on your own vehicles and their similarities to other models by the same company before going off on some off-based rant.

They can call it anything they want because they own the name.

And before you start lecturing me about "facts," do yourself a favor and learn how to spell the word learn (not lean).

sup redvanmafia, you still had no freakin reason to bring tamiya, nobody mentioned them till you did. and you still know nothing about tamiyas if you think the blackfoot and super blackfoot are the same. honestly who do you think you are trying to fool red?

You can't argue that the platform sharing gives them maximum market saturation and a greater ROI with less R&D. We may think they are 'whoring' the platform, but to the masses, they just get that many more reasons to buy something from their hobby store shelf.

Anyone who has driven a 1/16 vxl e-revo knows that they are prone to rollovers due to the crazy HP/weight ratio. SO, increasing the COG is going to make this far worse. Also, this platform will disappoint some by not being that drivable in all but the smoothest surfaces even though it looks very rugged.

I love Traxxas and I understand their repackaging of a successful platform, but I will pass on this iteration.

Looks cool all the same. It's just a mini Revo with differnt body, tires, bumpers, driveshafts, and rockers.

Your point is moot. You're a fan of a company whose pattern has been rebadging an existing vehicle after some minor cosmetic changesand releasing it under a new name. JUSTLIKETRAXASSHASDONEHERE. Ironic that you would choose to make such an inane comparison.

Amongst the basher list in your signature, it's dominated by the company.
You even own two of the examples of the "remade" vehicles.
You must be a fan.

Oh, and one more thing, there's no reason stated in the English language that you need to end each sentence with redvanmania. You really should finish school.

honestly I think that the mini summit is pretty cool....I will just buy the lights and stick them into the body......and i bet u can use this more for bashing.....i really wanna try the rock crawling with this one.........also one reason i think they scale them down is because they cost a lot of money and thats what turns down the customers.  Thats why i bough a mini revo and mini slash

RE: Official Traxxas 1/16 Summit VXL

Maybe traxxas will decide to make an accessory kit for the lights and maybe even high or low transmission.
