How fast does one of these go, out of the box?

around 12mph. it really depends on the batteries you use, if you use 4 aa cells, maybe 8mph. a nice 6 cell 2/3a pack will push 12mph, but they can go much faster. mine will push 30+mph. but it has a balanced speed 400 motor in it.
