It's finally done. I have finished converting my Mini-t track into a tri-oval. I still have some grass to cut out but it's pretty much done.

What do you think. I wanted to keep the jump so I re-designed a little and there you have it.

I posted it here because it is a mini track for my mini-t. the xxx-t mf1 is just for scale reference.

I have not driven on it yet because my mini-t broke just before I finished. Oh well I will get that grass out of there. If I don't then dew will form every morning and the car gets soaked after a couple laps. and we cant have that[>:]

very nice looking track. now, that rear hub should be alluminum.

RE: My backyard tri-oval

Yes, I am going aluminum but for now I'll just get the stock hubs. I went off that jump a little crooked and caught the fence with that back tire.

btw that jump will eventually go all the way up and I have an identical piece for the other side, so I can have two jumps or make a table top with a board in the middle.

hey now, that track looks cool. Its like a mini speed way. You should make that jump about as high as a coke can thats the best size for mini T and 18T and mlst. Try that let me know if its better. You will be able to run faster and it will be smoother and less stress on parts . that cost so much[:@] Here are some pics of my track.

RE: My backyard tri-oval

originaly there was a dog run with a bunch of junk in it. It took me forever to clean out and then I put the track in. We have such a big backyard and knowone ever uses it. I have to moe the whole thing all the time and it's just a big patch of grass. The one thing that my parents wanted me to do if they let me put a track in was to keep it clean and make it look nice, so I bought 200 feet of that pipe at home depot to make it look better. before it was a bunch of boards that were all diferent sizes, it looked bad. At least we use the space now and its so cool to go out whenever I want and bash on the track with my dad or cousin. My gigantic yard is starting to pay off. Plus I have less lawn to moe.:D;)

I like your track mariodx3. It's like a big offroad oval and you've got a lot of jumps there. I change mine so much it's a pain to shovel out jumps.

I kind of like my jump the way it is. The integy shocks really work good they haven't leaked so far. But like I say when I get the other side finished I can make a table top and make it a little smoother on the landings. I race dirt oval at my LHS track so it's kind of fun to experiment with offroad stuff.

That's awesome!

You can control your truck while resting comfortably in the hot tub... all you need is a little brother or nephew to flip it over when it wipes out and you're set!

That's the first big picture i've seen of your track. I didn't know it was a L shape. Pretty good size too. You could almost fit a 10th scale track back there. If you ever change it you could put a giant dirt burm against that brick wall.[X(]

As for me, i'm hopeing my hobbie shop will have that piece "in", so I can actually drive on my track. I almost have so many spare parts that I could build another mini-t. But of course you never have the one you break.

also I forgot to put before pictures on.

Here you go.

They are in order, and about 6 months apart. Isn't it funny how it gets a little bigger every time.:D The fifth one was never made maybe some other time. I do love that pipe though it's easier on the cars, easier to move and flexible.

Cool tracks, thinking of doing one this summer myself.

Wish I had a yard to make my own track in... heck I'd be happy with just a yard to run my truck in. One of the downsides to living in an apartment complex. Can't run my truck anywhere near it because the sound and sight of an R/C vehicle brings kids out of the woodwork and they all invaribly ask the same thing: "CAN I DRIVE IT?!" and I think to myself "Yeah right... I've seen you ride your bike, it's a wonder you aren't a vegatable in a bed drooling all over yourself." That and the traffic in the complex is terrible... people rip through the parking lots like they were on the freeway =(

nice pics, and what track is complete without a BBQ. My mini-t is fixed and running great. Also, I am thinking of changing my track yet again. This is my first track without jumps and it's a little boring.

Tell me what you think,
I was watching a video and the track had kind of a figure 8 pattern to it. They had a table top going over part of the track. The table top was made of three pieces of chain link fence and was for bigger monster trucks. My idea is to do the same thing but put a screen door material over it, so it could be used for mini's. The tires wouldn't fall in the holes. This may work for my track above.

If space were no limitation, what would be the appropriate dimensions for an 1/18th scale off-road track?

For example, how long would you make the front straightaway?

How wide would you make the track? (meaning: width of the track surface not the width of the entire track layout)

How high would you make the jumps, being realistic for racing not for stunting and bashing?

Thanks for the input.
