oh my i just realized the irony in my post. oh well. i think that small scale nitro is kind of silly. its interesting how many companies are making 1/18th and 1/16th nitros now, yet i dont see where the demand is coming from.

RE: SPORTWERKS chaos 1/16 buggy

i like seeing reputable companies coming out with these mini nitros... (sportwerks, kyosho, xray) and i even herd about a losi nitro mini...he he dont tell. anyway i think that the chaos looks neat it would be fun to rip that thing out every once in a while at the track just for some fun. ugh! its a freaking pullstart! although there is hole in the cassis for access to the flywheel.... micro hudy starter box here we come!

Its coming from people like us.....:D

yet i dont see where the demand is coming from.

RE: SPORTWERKS chaos 1/16 buggy

i know there are people out there who want a nitro mini, but it seems like new nitro minis are coming out at a faster rate than new electric ones, yet most of the people own the electric minis. i know this is because they have been out longer, but i still see more posts about people getting new electrics than nitros. instead of building these nitro buggies i wish companies would start making high quality kits like they do for their 1/10 and 1/8 scale cars. sure the FT rc18t is sweet, but when you look at how much cool stuff the bigger scale factory team cars get its not quite as cool anymore. and how about a mini t kit? why do they need to make it prebuilt? if you are at the stage of the hobby where you are picking out all of your own electronics than you probably want to build your cars too.

Wonder when it ships...

(cringes) ahh body and tire combo is soo ugly. but the prospect of mini nitros is cool except for aftermarket pipes and engines but the recent introduction of so many mini nitro it might just take off. i mean i like nitro because of the sound, smell and thrill but am forced to run minis (not complaining i like minis) because of the winters and lack of tracks and money to replace the bigger parts but this combines both. im going to buy one when i can.

I wonder how this compares to my Vulcan ?
I must admit that i like the fact that it is made by a known company.

RE: SPORTWERKS chaos 1/16 buggy

I think it looks pretty cool. I like the mini nitros. I am very pleased with my XRay NT18 car. I have a limited space to run a touring car out side. So for me it is much more fun to drive around vs a 1/10th scale nitro TC.
I think this buggy would be fun to drive out around the house or on a small track. I have been thinking about getting the Vulcan... Now I will have to hold out to find out more info on this one...

RE: SPORTWERKS chaos 1/16 buggy

It is Miwi from Piktor France under different name, I saw it in France and I had chance to drive it, durable model, fuel tank is primitive but sealed much better than Vulcan, after using the model are clean and you there is no oil spreading every ware like Vulcan, Miwi are more faster than Vulcan but upgrading parts are very limited and could not be compared with Vulcan.

Speed wise, I believe if IRC manage to do durable 2 speed gear to last for more than one minute , and sealed tuned pipe the Vulcan can reach the speed of Miwi or maybe will exceed it.

The Miwi price in France is higher than sportwerks, You can have a look at Miwi at www.piktor.fr

I notice that there is big demand on mini nitro models in Europe but I notice that most of the 1/16 nitro models users are not new in R/C hobby and it not their first models, they buy it as new class they enjoy driving.

Actualy that the Piktor Miwi, with the Sprotwerks name on it...IRC Racing has an upgraded engine that will be out soon, it should fit all of the cars mentioned, it is being made by a popular Italian manufacture, we just tested one yesterday..man does it scream!

The price does not look too bad either:

Mindcrime - do you know if that "upgrade" motor will fit in the Xray mini nitros?

I asked the reps at Horizon Hobby at RCX yesterday. They said it should ship end of May/Early June.

cool deal. Any idea as to how much more power they make than the stock motor that Xray uses or the stock motor that is on the 1/16th scale buggies.

are you saying that screw tops are bad? just curiouse i have no experiance with them

R_man_5k 05-08-2006 05:20 PM

RE: SPORTWERKS chaos 1/16 buggy

right off the top of my head I would just guess and say that that would be a pain.... having to unscrew it everytime you want to fill up the tank... no fun!

RE: SPORTWERKS chaos 1/16 buggy

it would be bad for racing...but there isnt a class for them yet so not to worry...

There are new pictures of the finished product for the kyosho mini... i would give a link but it would get erased cuz its to a different forum...

Besides that I have photos of it anyway. However, the more time I spend "in" the forums, the less time I have to write something up. I also just arrived home about an hour ago, so I'll start reviewing more photos soon but it is not limited to just one particular product.
