It is one of a kind. Have you thought of painting the body? I like the wheels and tires.

i think it more looks like one of the baja buggies then a trophy truck, i think it would look alot more like a trophy truck if you had the body wider, just my 2c

Looks awesome man. Cant wait to see everything finished on Sat.

On Arsonist's point: I would keep the spare but change the tire so it is the same tire as the rest of the tires. But thats just my .02

RE: Mini T-ROPHY truck "AWESOME"

Thanks guys!. Yeah that tire was for mock up only. I plan on buying another set of wheels/tires but that part of the project wont be finished by Sat.
Oh and the last pic is my lil pitbike. lol i thought it was a cool pic so i added it.

awsome I did a similar body with my savage to match my real jeep. I started making one for my rc18 but havnt got very far on it. The savage one only took me like 2 weeks of working on it a couple hours a night :)

Yeah that is cool. Ur steelin my thread. j/k lol. My dad Loves willy's jeeps. We want one for the dunes! with a big v8 engine. OH YEAH..... It took me 1 day to get were i am at now. Not bad, but measuring and figuring out what we wanted to do took the longest time.

RE: Mini T-ROPHY truck "AWESOME"

Sorry I figured youd be pissed hehe. Its deinitly more difficult the smaller the vehicle to get the scale look and have everything be where it needs to be thats kinda why i stopped building my 18t body. Looks like your welds came out pretty good. I had trouble with welded on pannels on a cage i fitted with pannels they just kept breaking off. On my jeep i didnt weld th epannels i just bent them around the bars. I dont run the truck with that body though it would definatly be trashed in minutues haha. Im sure its muss less of a problem with an 18t though. Oh and the body really doesnt weigh much i think its somthing like 1 3/4 lbs. not that it matters anyway its just for show

RE: Mini T-ROPHY truck "AWESOME"

lol yeah. Well we had to be careful when welding, because the sheet metal was wanting to melt, so we had to be very careful. My Uncle Is an awesome welder. Hes helped wit ha trailor to pull behind my e maxx with and a swiviling stand to put under my cars when im working on them.

RE: Mini T-ROPHY truck "AWESOME"

Ok guys i ran it for the first time today with the body on. After a couple of seconds i noticed a wistleiling sound coming from the pinion/spur gear area. It didnt sound bad but i kept driving it. About 2 minutes or less of driving the pinion came off. Even with lock tight and before the body the pinion would come off occasionally. So I removed the dust cover and noticed that my spur gear was stripped and so was the metal golden horizons pinion. I believe what happend was, the last time i took my truck out for a drive i took it to school to play with before soccer practice. There was lots of dirt with rocks and it must of got into the teeth of the spur gear and with the little extra weight of the body, it stripped it. I must have not done the paper trick last time to line up the pinion. Anyways, I was wonder if it is bad to run metal to metal or metal to aluminum. Or if im better off with metal to plastic "for the pinion/spur gear" Please help me out on how i should gear my truck and what pinion/spur gear setup i should use.
Thanks,
Taylor

Looks great man, have you thought about doing a little finishing work? All the hardwork is done, to make it look top notch you could try sanding down the welds and blending in the panels. Wouldn't take too long to do on a good bench grinder and it would look even better!

clockwork1 01-04-2007 07:42 PM

RE: Mini T-ROPHY truck "AWESOME"

Thanks. Yeah I was going to file it down but the welds are thin because the sheet metal was wanting to melt. So wHat i was going to do was use bondo or some sort of apoxy to cover ove rthe rough spots. After i got it smooth i was going to hand sand it and then paint. Paint also hides alot. I do have some finishing work and as soon as it is done this weekend i will post pics, so check back in a day or 2.

Thanks guys....keep the comments rollin lol

RE: Mini T-ROPHY truck "AWESOME"

Well I tried to finish today but I got real busy with helping my dad out with our new trailor. "for the dunes" Bondoing took a little longer then expected. But if all goes right it should be mostly completed tommarow. Ive decided not to put the spare tire on, just because it doesnt look scale. Maybe another time.
