I ran it to the bottom of our concrete drive, and then ran it wide open on the way back up....lost a bit of control, and WAMMM!!! right into my foot.....lol......I didn't break the steering knuckle like I was expecting.....but I broke both top and bottom right side suspension arms:eek:.....the first run(which only lasted two min')...and I break somthing[:@]......awesome truck!!

I have broken my share of knuckles and arms with mine over the years. When you order replacements, go ahead and buy a few sets of upper/lower arms and knuckles.

thats bad to hear.. but Its impressive that you still like the truck after a 2 minute run time and broke something, lol

DTX has their stress-tech guarantee, so just call up their number from their site and get the replacement parts sent to you! You'll get a 4 pack of each, so you'll have some spares.

never used the stresstech grauntee i just bought the parts.

RE: My Mini Quake's first run!!

Yeah, the parts are cheap and if you want to get back on the road ASAP, $10 isn't gonna break the bank, but it's nice to get free parts.

RE: My Mini Quake's first run!!

I also bought new parts and used the strees tech so id always have spare partz

Stress tech and the 90 day guarantee are unbeatable. I have an integy product that became damaged for no reason and they make up BS so they dont have to replace it. I told dtx my esc and parts were broke, without hesitation I had new parts in 5 days.

Do I have to send in the broken parts?

How long does the entire process take?(sending in the broken parts.....recieving the new ones)

RE: My Mini Quake's first run!!

I send the parts in an envelope with a copy of my sale slip, address, etc. Usually have them back in 8-10 days. If you send in one arm, they send you a package, so you have mulitple replacements.

Gosh!! the 1200mAh duratrax battery packs get to hot to touch right after charging....burned my hand...lol...never had a battery pack get that hot...

RE: My Mini Quake's first run!!

Hmm, I didn't have to send in my broken parts. I didn't even need to prove that I bought it within the last year!!! Just call their 800 number and be real nice to the DTX rep and have the DTX part numbers on hand that you need replacements for. If you don't have the manual, go to towerhobbies and look them up. If you've ordered from Tower and have your Tower ID, you can give them that and they will have your address right in the computer.

Send int he broken parts. For me, it only took 5 days for the whole process and they're half way across the us from here...

Sorry, I was wrong, its' not an 800 number: 217-398-0007

RE: My Mini Quake's first run!!

well, it seems in light that the parts broke with only 2 min' of driving....their sending replacments immediately..(without sending the broken parts in).....though it's well deserved, it's been torture, sitting here staring at my M.Q...lol

one more thing....I've heard talk of people boiling their suspension arms and knuckles in water (to make them more flexible).....what exactly is the method for this?

Thanks

RE: My Mini Quake's first run!!

Boiling Plastic Parts

Yes it does, in case you dont know how do it like this

Bring water to boil
turn off heat
dump parts in
let parts sit in water for 25-30 minutes

I stole this from another thread so I didnt write it but this I think is the way to do it.

I boil them for about 8 minutes and the results are amazing. You can literally twist them and they dont snap. I did this to my knuckles/hubs, havent tried it on the arms yet but from now on I'm boiling al the parts I put on.

wow that flexible. Might have to do that next time. All my arms have hinge pins or carbon rod in them so hopefully they'll last a while.

RE: My Mini Quake's first run!!

I can attest to the boiling of parts. I boil all of my nylon/plastic parts, MQ included. We fortunately had a researcher/scientist on one forum (can't remember which forum) but he basically said that the nylon/plastic absorbs moisture naturally over time and that does make it more pliable and flexible. Boiling the parts accelerates the absorption of moisture into the parts. Something like that.

Anyways, it will help. This doesn't work on Graphite parts, and as far as I am concerned Duratrax's graphite parts suck. Between breaking the Pro Evaders graphite parts I have and my attempts at graphite knuckles on the MQ you will be better with the stock plastic parts and boiling.
