Mamba Question

I just put a Mamba Comp X brushless system in an RC18/T. When I give it full throttle, as it accelerates, it's like the throttle curve is sort of stepped. It accelerates and then it sounds like the motor cuts out for a split second, and then it starts to accelerate again. It seems to do this a couple of times until it reaches top speed. Is this normal?

Also, anyone know what the safe max operating temperature is for these motors.

Hmmmm, now the power has stopped cutting out. At first I thought maybe the motor was drawing too much power for the battery and the esc was going into power saving mode, but then the car started running properly even with a half drained battery. It's running really quick now. Weird.
