Team Associated RC18B Pro Kit or Duratrax Vendetta?
 

I was Just wondering what the better was of the two. I will be getting a brushless Li-Po system for it either way. Also what all do I need to complete the Associated buggy? What about the vendetta? What are the servo sizes, baterry sizes, and esc sizes? Any help is apreciated

Can I please get a response? All I need to know is what size li-po will fit in the RC18B without modification, and if the Hitec HS225MG mini servo will fit the RC18B???

the "Detta" stands for Vendetta, duh, which is a buggy, and go to maxamps and go to mini batteries, and they have lipos which should all fit. and im pretty sure that servo will fit

You need to give more info for a good answer to your first question. Budget, where you plan to run, what are your priorities, etc...

RC18t:
- The RC18T has better parts support, aftermarket options, and its easier to find motors, tires, wheels, etc. It can be made into an awesome race platform, but its expensive to do so. Steering is the major downside of this truck.
- You will need a servo, radio system, esc, motor, and battery to finish off the rc18t factory team.
- The rc18t uses micro servos. you can not use a mini servo. its too big.
- Battery: ~ 101mm x 34mm x 17mm

Vendetta Buggy:
- The Detta is one of the top race platforms, and is very competitive with very few hop-ups. Its as durable as the rc18t, but parts support and aftermarket pale in comparison. Motors choices are limited as well since the detta uses a 48 metric pitch and 2.3mm shaft motors vs the standard 2mm shaft on most micro motors. One of the best off-road racers and bashers available today.
- Uses a standard 1/10th servo
- Battery size: ~ 86mm x 34mm x 17mm

Ok I plan to race, dont really have a budget, I want to get the rc18b. As for electronics I will be getting the spektrum micro sr3500, esc - dynamite tazer, motor - dynamite c4 brushless, battery - maxamps 1550HV 3S 11.1V pack. what servo do you recomend? are the choices i have made some far good? what hop-ups will i need and what are the weak points on this little beast? :)

Will the ProTek [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/16868]3S 11.1V 2100mAh [/link] battery fit the rc18b? It is within milimeters of your description.

Unless you are drag racing someone on the street, the 3S lipo is WAAAYYY too much for dirt. 2S will be plenty. The Spektrum is a great choice, the ESC and motor I don't know. I personally have the Mamba system in my Mini-T, and the Quark 33/Permax in my Vendetta buggy. I've had nothing but great experiences with the 180 can Mamba motor.

Those choices are ok, but it all depends on the track you plan to race at. I assume you will race in an open class, since you are jumping to brushless right away. The things you have now are best suited for a large track, 1/10th track, and so on. For most normal 1/18th tracks, you'll want a top speed of 20-25mph.

If you go brushless, I'd suggest something with a lower kv like the mamba 5400. People may disagree, but I think its more of a personal choice that need to match your driving style. I like control and consistency for racing. Ballistic speed runs and what not can be saved for bashing.

For the esc, I don't know anything about the dynamite taser. I use mamba 25's in most of my mini's. I like them because of the computer programming function, and constant software updates.

Batteries: all those will be fine. You will need to raise the battery posts for the one lanerbrainer205 linked in post 9. Again, I would personally use a 2s lipo for racing. Most tracks will not allow a 3s lipo in a race anyways.

The key to buying lipos is making sure that you get a high enough constant amp rating to provide your motor with enough power. You can figure this out using this: Amps = "C" rating x ah (amp hours). Amp hours is just the capacity (2100mah = 2.1ah). So a lipo with a 15C constant rating and 2100mah will provide 31.5 amps constant. Most normal 20mm diameter motors like mamba, tekin, c4, cobalt, etc. will draw anywhere between 12-25 amps constant. So these batteries will do just fine.

I would really recommend you get the aluminum steering linkage from integy. Then on the plastic servo saver, I glued the plastic spring to the part that goes on to servo, with a mg servo the steering is perfect and over 1 year with no problems. On my other 18b i have the aluminum steering linkage, but instead of gluing the servo saver together, I cut a piece of old 1/10th shock spring, put it around the plastic spring, and touched it with solder gun to melt it into plastic. Works good.
