Need Propulse Help!!

I have purchased a refurbished propulse from ebay, and have heard some horror stories from contacting megatech and want to know what to do. When I give a full throttle on it it just binds up and won't run, but if I give it slow gas and increase it works fine. Sometimes I have times where I am running it and I let go of the gas and it won't stop turning or stop going foward. I don't know what it is. I am running my own custom battery pack and that is the only thing on it. It could be the 15 degree weather I think too. I have one more question and that is the auxialary jack on the receiver how would a 2 prong fan go into it since you don't usually see 3 pronged fans?

Please help!

RE: Need Propulse Help!!

ohh, is this "custom" pack the AA or AAA idea you had ??? It holding a turn or throttle sticking is a sign of batteries being too weak. My guess is your idea didnt work, and its not supplying the juice the model needs. Like I told you when you asked about using AA or AAA batteries.

Car is fine, get a pack meant for R/C and you'll be fine. Look around at some Radio shacks. Some still have propulse parts left over...and are willing to sell them fairly cheap to get rid of the stock they have as they arent selling them anymore.

Where in Mass are you ? Batteries arent that expensive....I could keep an eye out for a deal on a pack and charger for you if you want.

yes this was the custom pack I had in mind lol, it gets up to speed and it just seems to react weird but the batteries run fine with no overheating. So I should just get a battery pack from radioshack I have seen a 2000mah pack with a 4 hour charger there. My radioshack does have propulse parts left I do beleive I will ask them next time I g which will probably be tomorrow. I think it may also be from the wires being a small guage and not allowing enough current to go through them. I am in bristol county, seekonk, rehoboth, attleboro areas, I haven't really been to any of my lhs' I know there is a pack at radioshack for 25 dollars I will even give you a link. http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search They also have a 3300 mah pack which id think is the rite mah because of how high it is... Thanks for the help though. and also do you know of any tracks around here?

RE: Need Propulse Help!!

Nope, thats a sub c pack...its too big to fit in the pro pulse. Thats not meant for 1/18th scale cars. Most batteries for 1/18th scale will fit. Its what they call 2/3A size cell pack. The propulse ones look like this http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXSMG8&P=7

But you can also use ones that have all six cells together unless you do the twin motor conversion

RE: Need Propulse Help!!

You dont really have to get one from radio shack, just make sure its a 2/3a 6 cell pack and you should be fine. If it has a different connector on it, you may have to switch it though.

As for tracks I dont know out your way. I know there is one in Fitchburg Ma....and a friend and I made a small clay one out back his house in Ware Ma.

RE: Need Propulse Help!!

There is a track in RI but its indoors and more for mini-z's and xmods, also a few out in swansea, warwick, and a few others. THe one in fitchburg does look really nice though:D Going to have to buy the propulse pack or go to my lhs i guess. Could the batteries also be the reason for when I hit the gas it doesn't move, it only stutters? I might go to walmart find a cheap r/c with a nice battery pack and use that lol:)

supercharged347 03-01-2008 04:55 PM

RE: Need Propulse Help!!

Dont do it. Walmart will not have a battery meant for it.

I have a spare one of this charger new I could sell ya http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search

As for batteris, I would either go to a hobby store or get one meant for it from Radio Shack.

and yes, your car is studdering under high throttle, cause the batteries cant do it.

I am low on $$$ so I will just get the propulse battery for now and see what happens after, thanks for the offer though.

What about the auxiarly, I heard you use it for fans but how does a two prong fan go into a 3 prong receiver? I know 10 hours to charge [&o] Think I am going to keep looking though

Did some more searching and found a towerhobbies quick charger and battery! http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJC33&P=9 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJA83&P=M

RE: Need Propulse Help!!

If ya read that, it uses sub C cells....that mean the pack is physically TOO big to fit the pro-pulse, and 90% of the other 1/18th scales out there.

musclecar201 03-02-2008 10:31 AM

RE: Need Propulse Help!!

Finding a non sub c cell battery pack is harder than I thought but I am not sure if this is a non sub c cell because it doesn't mension wether it is or not? I am asuming if it says nothing about sub C cells I can use it. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHUJ8&P=0

that is way to big fro the propulse get packs that fit the rc18t

RE: Need Propulse Help!!

yea, one thing that gives it away....its a 1800 mah pack, and its a nicad (nickel cadium). Even a Nimh pack at the size we use wouldnt be that high. They top out around 1500 mah. nicad lower, I think under 1000 mah.

So whats your plan ? I hope you are going to get a proper pack, so you can see what the car will really do, and enjoy it.

RE: Need Propulse Help!!

After talking it over with my grandfather who races airplanes and boats he helped me to explain what I really needed and I found what I needed, http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=LOSB1206 http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=DYN1425 and it is not to expensive and won't break my budget so if I break a shock tower.

Do i need any special adapters to fit the propulse connectors?

supercharged347 03-02-2008 11:33 PM

RE: Need Propulse Help!!

Yes, that battery will work, but you will need to either change the connector on the battery, or the one on the speed control. So you'll have to decide wich you want to change, and buy one. connectors dont usually cost much. Another thing you could do is go to a local hobbystore and they could help you out.
