My Mini Track - pics

Here are a couple shots of my mini track. It's undergoing a few enhancements at the present time. Since I began working for our county public works, I've been able to haul in a couple loads of dirt. Still have a couple of jumps to build and a turn or two to work on. We have a great time racing on it. Too bad winter is knocking, it's such a crime to shut it down for a few months.

A few more jumps are in the works. Late summer I was able to get a nice load of dirt. This enabled me to fix the area at the top left, where the two table-tops are. That used to ba a dip, which is where the foundation-daylight drain comes out. It looks flat in that area, but that's because there is quite a bit of dirt there, with about 20' of draintile underneath the jumps.

The track is built on about a 4 to 5' incline. Given the fact we mainly ran mini-t's, it was a challenge. I plan on building a 60' x 90' in another part of the yard next Spring, to accomodate some 1/16th and 1/12th. I run my vendetta on this track, but the 60 x 90 would suit it better.

Nice job, you managed to fit a nice track in a really small area.

Well, it's a small portion of my 1.2 acres, and it's below my deck, which doubles as a nice driver's stand.:D

Here's the biggest part of my yard. You can obviously see the remnants of my 1/8th track. It is 85 x 110'. This will be rotovated and sewn back, and then possibly a 60 x 90' built under the two big trees.

We used to have a 1/8th and mini-t track to race at locally, but no more. The 1/8th track hosted RC Pro Series races and the mini-t track had indoor racing all winter long. I live just south of Cincinnati, in Northern KY, and the closest track is now 2+ hours away. Haven't been to an organized race in over a year.

I have been to the 'Battle at the Beach' in Ft. Walton though ;). Got some good friends down there.

i have 3 acres i could put a track on but no small Bobcat and it cost to much to rent one and i would need at least 1,000 dollars in dirt

Really nice. I'm beginning work on a track for my mini-dt. I haven't measured it yet, maybe 20x40 max. We're maybe 1-1.5 hours apart, we'll have to start an underground backyard racing league...

When we would do the winter racing at Dirt Country, we would average 40 racers every Friday night. About 10 of them have been here. It's almost like most of them won't race unless they pay and it's an organized event. All have been invited too, but oh well.

That's epic-like HUGE and way oversized for mini's, more in line with a 1/8th track.

The lanes are 5' wide.

Nice.

Mini-track lanes are typically 4- to 6-feet wide.

That would be for a real race track with multiple cars right? I figure 3 feet for my track with just my car ought to be fine, plus it should make me a more precise driver.

Honestly, IMHO 4-feet is the minimum you want to mess with or try for a TRACK. Any smaller than that and it's too hard to navigate the lanes or have any speed going for it to be any fun let alone have the room to go at and land jumps.
You don't really learn better car control from driving overly narrow lanes, kinda in the same way you don't learn to drive a 1:1 car better navigating narrow streets with cars parked on both sides (all it does is force you to proceed slower).
