Default TEE DEE 049 Question

Hi all... I've got a new TD .049 with a new Tarno Carb on it and I just noticed something strange. The number 2 is stamped on the engine flange on the left side. Does anyone know if this has any significance?? It looks like a factory stamp. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before??? Thanks,

Dan

Dan, I think it means it was the 2nd TD ever made and it's got to be worth at least a couple grand on ebay.

DS....I think it was some kind of factory production code at Cox because I have 5 or 6 TD.049's and TD.051's with the same 2 marked on the lug.....I'd be curious to know exactly what it means too.........

Oh Yes...had it not been such a long day..I would have mentioned in my earlier post...I have a TD.049 that came out of an estate in the Corona, CA area that has a solid brass cylinder ( non magnetic and brass colored). It has a large #1 stamped on the side and I believe to be a factory experimentation piece. It has the TD bypasses and flutes like the regular ones....Go figure......

Same as for the cylinders, Cox, in later years, stamped identifying #'s on the TD crankcases. I have seen a few with #'s over the years and I belive I might have also come across at least one #2. Same as I have come across cylinders stamped #1 & #7 on Surestart engines.
