All - I was finally able to maiden my Pageboy this evening. I haven't had that much fun in a LONG time. I can't believe how 'spritely' that little plane is. I flew it three times tonight. This was a really cool build and is a lot of fun to fly. I think I'll have to try the Schoolboy next. I have a couple TD .020s lying around.

It was a beautiful day out yesterday and Tim(Exocet-RCU) and I were able to go out and get in a few flights. I was anxious to see his PageBoy fly and it was worth the wait!....it looked like it ran and flew great as proven by Tim's occasional giggling[8D] . Sorry about the background takling I guess I could have picked out some song that is cooler than listening to a .010 zooming around, ......Uhhh, neverming there is no such song Enjoy! Todd

Hi, I know this is over a year old thread, but I have a question for you all. I am building a Pageboy now for a new .010 I got. I printed the PDF file out and it looked the right size. I have built the body and am getting ready to cut the wing out, but it looks a little short and I was thinking about extending it a little since I'm going to use rudder and elevator. My question is: What is the wingspan of your Pageboys ? The one on the plan looks "stubby" to me. It might just be an optical illusion, but I hate to cut the wood out and have wished I had gone with a wider wingspan and it be too late to change it. Sorry for being long winded, and thanks for everyone's help on this.

I believe mine has a wingspan of about 16". With elevator control, I also made the horizontal tail neutral incidence with the wing.

Tee Bee, thanks for the information. I did make my body with neutral incidence also. Love your youtube videos. One more question, how did you finish your Pageboy? I'm going to use dope, but I would like to put silkspan over the wood as it looks much better that way, but the weight may be excessive. I haven't used dope on a plane in a lot of years as I been using the iron on stuff. Thanks again for your information.

I sealed the wood with several coats of thinned 50/50 Sig butyrate dope, sanding lightly between coats. The color accents were cut from Coverite Microlite and ironed on at low heat. Everything was then topped with a couple of light coats of Top Flite Lustrekote clear for more fuel proofing. So far, so good.

Thanks Tee Bee, I built the wing today based on what you did on yours for size and it looks good. I cut up strips of CA hinges and put on the elevator and rudder. The gap is a lot more than I wanted, but I think it will function fine. I can't wait to fly the little thing!

I almost forgot, I had some thirty plus year old Celstic (sp) to put on the wing center like the plan called for. Just happened to find some of the stuff the other day while I was digging for something else.

Looks good. Since the control surfaces are so thin, I made hinges by cutting some mylar strips from an old floppy disc. They work well and are easy to CA in the slots.

I sewed mine, just to add some old school flavour.

Also, I didn't do any reinforicing to my wing centre section apart from a thin strip of silkspan, even then whether that helps or not is up for debate

Thanks for the reply Rendegade. I thought about sewing mine, but changed my mind as I thought surface gluing the CA hinges would work ok. Live and learn I guess. I gave it a good try.

Well, since my last post here, I finished the Pageboy, started and finished a Sig Hummer kit, finished up a Gnat bipe and finished up a scratch built Rascal RC. Next is a AERO 09 from AMA plans. Thanks for everyone’s help. Now I have to wait for a good day to try these planes out.

I like your Pageboy. I have flown mine so much over the past year that I've fuel soaked my fuselage so badly I have to rebuild it. Takeoffs now are sketchy due to the weight gain. Curious also to see that Gnat fly. That looks like it could be a handful.

Thanks for the good words guys, as I made my last post with the pictures, a storm came in here in Madison, In.
First with a quarter inch of ice, then eight inches of snow. I will not be flying for a while. I'll try on Jan 1 for our clubs "Numb Thumbs" event, but it's not looking good right now. I guess I'll be flying my little 250 T-Rex copter in the garage !

Good looking planes Bill. I have a Page Boy and Hummer as well. I cheated with the Page Boy and made it letric (still rudder only), but the Hummer has a TD 051. Great flyers.

Hello, I am building the pageboy and I have tie wing mostly built.My question is about the bottom. It says to sheet the bottom canter section so it is flat. Are you supposed to put filler strips extensions on the ribs so the sheet is flat?,or you use two pieces,one for each side and it matches the diehedral of the wing. Hope you understand what I am trying to get across.
