28,500 in the hand is about as fast as I've ever had an AME running. The problem I had was the P/L scuffing and gouging, even with 25% oil.
Have you ever clocked this plane of your's...? It ought to stir up some interest with the local racers when you bring it out.

not sure on speed but guessing in the 125-130 range. hard to tell with such a small plane. i hacked it up pretty good putting this thing in the front of it. so lots of lost speed in the front. Prop is a tiny bit to much load straight and level but in a slight dive sounds like it picks up another 1000. this engine has been worked and has a really big carb. i need to run a bladder tank and thin lines. I have to baby it on the launch as a hard throw will kill it. i think we opened the carb up to 180-200. i can try to take a pic of rpm numbers if you like.

Here is a close up of the prop. I narrowed it some to get where I wanted the RPM.

Whittling on the prop until you see a drop off in speed has always been the best way.
This is where having a radar to give instant readouts at the field would be handy.
Otherwise, the 4.2 x 4 is worth trying.
My Cyclon has a .157" intake at it's narrowest point, so your .180 - .200" is definitely large enough.
The single most significant thing I ever did with an AME was the "Toad Mod"...where you raise the piston skirt and notch the crank's counterweight to create a unobstructed path for airflow up the forward boost port when the piston is near BDC.

ok cool thanks i will go look. This prop is about the same load as the 4.2 but the little large dia give a little more thrust for the launch and close to same airspeed
