Yesterday was an exercise in not getting blown cross country on glare ice while succumbing to frostbite. Bad engine day.

Today much better.

APC 7-5
Temp 40-41F

15% - 20,580 rpm
25% - 20,890 rpm

Both fuels are syn/cas 18% + about 5% castor for total oil 23%. With a bit more run time and 20% total oil I'd guess maybe 21k static at best.

So it looks like the ABC is maybe 500 to 1,000 rpm better than the older one. Mine came with a Perry carb. Pretty much in the Fora territory.

Those are really good numbers.

Is that with the stock muffler or the tube/pipe?

That's outstanding..!
You should not have to build anything too exotic or undersized to see outstanding performance.
120-130 mph with a Q250.

Depending on airframe can likely go 6.5x5, 6x5.5 or the like and see some good airspeed.

It's too nice looking and interesting an engine to bolt to some POS. Matney's QM15 models look nice. I had one of the AJ-2 kits:

But SmokinRV-4 talked me out of it. Well in truth, I traded him the airframe for some aluminum prop mold mandrels. He likely hasn't built it yet though (ears burning yet JM...? ).

These guys are all 350 sq in wing though, really they need a Jett .35.

That's what Ron Young said - they'd be good for about 1.000 rpm more than the stock p/l set.

More data points:

Omega 15% straight up

MA 8-4 16,600 rpm
APC 8-4 17,250 rpm

and the other day:

25% half-A brew (same as 7-5 tests)

Graupner Speed Prop 6x5.5 22,500 rpm

Graupner Speed Prop 6x5.5 22,500 rpm / 107 mph / unloaded might hit 121 mph.
