Default RE: PAW Diesel for Herr Cloud Ranger?

Just wanted to update the thread here...

I'm still waiting for the Cloud Ranger to come in at the LHS. I was expecting it last weekend, but no luck. I did pick up a Sig Hummer, though, and will get on that soon. I'm hoping to pick up the .061 at the Tullahoma, TN SMALL fly-in on October 1st, and will likely begin construction shortly thereafter. I'll start a thread once the plane is done with some pics and notes.

Well, I got my PAW .06 diesel today from Eric. I'm totally stoked about this project, but I'm still waiting for the kit to show up at the LHS. Too much more of this "I ordered it, but it didn't come in yet" garbage, and I'll have to Tower it, which I really hate to do...[:'(]

Like I said before, once I get the building under way, I'll post some pics for all to see!

Wayne, it might be worth mounting your new PAW on a test stand - just screw a suitable engine mount to something solid - and practice starting it before you mount it in your Cloud Ranger. They take a bit of running in, and so does your 'flick finger'

Gives you time to play with the diesel on a test stand before the kit arrives.
The mellow sound is addictive.
Castor is good for the skin.

Good advice. The woman and I are moving into a house (from an apartment) over the next couple of weeks, and I'll have a basement and garage to play with. This will give me the opportunity to bench-run this engine while the airframe is under construction (if it ever arrives!).

Well, The kit is finally in hand, but construction is still a ways back in the que. I just wrapped up a big one (Sig Kadet SR), and I'm getting ready to get back on my 1/2A Sig Hummer, with a few more big ones in between (Rascal Forty, Big Stick), and then if I'm lucky I'll get to the Cloud Ranger! I'm looking at a nice break from school here soon, so maybe I'll be able to knock a few out before the new year starts!

I'll come back and update this thread with pics and stuff when I start construction!

Dude, you have got to go with the Vanilla Diesel Fuel!!!! It sure smells better than the regular stuff [:'(] and gives no change in performance. Those little diesels sure do run a long time on a few drops of fuel!

A buddy of mine had a Herr Cloud Ranger that he bought second hand. It was a bit overweight with the electric setup, but yours should be very nice with the PAW.
