Default Enya 049

A few years ago in RCM I think, there was an artical about Enya's 049. The person said he was in the Army in Japan and if you would like one he could send you one, cost about$25 I think. Has anyone ever seen one of these. He said they were only sold in Japan and not exported. It was an RC 049

Default Enya 049

Enya made/makes an 049/06/06diesel/ 08 and a 10 that were only imported sporatically in the late 50's.
I've have examples of each of them that I picked up in Japan in the 60's.
They are very moderate in power and not much much of a threat to the cox as to output. They are however like all Enyas extremely well made, cheap on fuel and are of conventional shaft induction so you get to use a separate tank if you wish.
You will not get one for $25.00 trust me on that one. They are scarce here and go for about $80/$100 and up NIB and used aren't too much cheaper. In fact I'Ve never seen an 08 or a 10 for sale here.
Still it would be an attention getter at the field if you get one, and you can order one from several sources in Japan.
Hope that this helps. Dennis

Default Enya 049

I had an Enya 049, sure of it. Got it in a bunch of stuff I got on ebay once (box of motors). Did the backplate/mount have red anodising? I thought it was a reed valve, the one I had, but it was two years ago and I cant really remeber! Ended up sending it to a friend of mine in California.

Default Enya 049

The 06 was made in a rear intake reed valve configuration. Both the diesel and glow were sold by AHC into the early 60's. Can you believe that they cleared them out at about $3.00. Yes it had a red anodized backplate mount., but it also had beam mounts.
Carlson Motors had managed to get a few of the newer models about 10 years ago. I bought one from him., an 061D, At that time they were about $80.00. Even got the rare wrap around muffler. Way I understand it he got a cease and desist from Altech. They are too stupid to import them but by God no one else is going to sell them either.

Default 049 RC

The one I am taking about was front intake with carb and had a bolt on muffler, and reg. glow plug . Had mounting lugs like reg engine and looked like small Enya 15 RC with carb shape like a Norvel 061 from what I remember from the photo in the mag. But it was an Enya 049 RC
