Holy cartwheel, BAT MAN !

Kinda sounds like the balance (C.G.) is a bit to much back, I would suggest moving it forward a bit. Sorry to see that damage, but looks fixable. Looks like the firewall plywood split? Never seen that before.

I think what happened ,after the first attempt/cartwheel,was that the Tail smacked the ground pretty hard too, and it cracked the fuse, below the left side horizontal stab.I hadn`t caught that ,until I was nearly finished, the front end repair. The slightest pressure made the stab.AND verticle move,ALOT.,nearly a 1/4"[X(]..I also suspect with every time the nose nailed the dirt .the firewall de-laminated a little more, and increased the Left thrust. That plywood was faulty.Yeah that`s it ,cheap wood.Dang junky wood[>:] ,it fell apart, especially after 5 not so nice touchdowns.[&:] Anyways, I have the LST .074" repaired now.I only have to iron down the covering at the tail, and she`s ready to Torture,I mean Fly, again.Hmm, is that even called Flying, if the plane lifts off, and lands on its nose, all in ,a 25 foot stretch??..I`ll post pics, when I can ,showing balance.

Heres the pics, of the repair, and the rest of the minor mods I made...So now ,we`re caught up.That takes care of the recent past,.Next post ,will be my schedule for the near future..Dave

I`m going to have to cal JZ Zinger about warranty for that(1`st prop broke)This is the second one now.
I think we have a class action suit we can file, how many decades of props that brake? $millions

I cant belive the tristock behind the firewall pushed back. Wow. What did you glue it in with?
Maybe it was a good thing the firewall gave, like a crumplezone, take some of the hurt off the engine.

Sorry to see it go in, but a balsamaster like you can take care of them breaks.

.FOR what the future holds for me,.I`ve decided, to try, to get myself in," Working shape" again.I ve been on disability for quite some time now,and I hate it.For those that don`t know ,I`m an Automotive re-finish TECH.,pretty much ,whatever to do with collision repair/Restoration.I`ve also decided to make a few changes, about how I work ,and ,what I will work on ...It boils down to, I need more pay, so I can continue to play,---the r/c 1/2A ,and Warbird, modelling game. Some aspects of the Hobby monster really likes to eat up cash.Disability pay ,really Sucks, though it`s better than nothing at all....

Eventually ,among other things,I want to Buy/try the 1/2A Deisel that Peter Burford ,Designed/Manufactured/Built ,and has for sale.Anybody have one?Whats your experiance?what kind/size plane is it set-up in?

Well here`s some pics of a project ,that belongs to my Neighbour Mike. His wife,Betty thought it was a big waste, of time, and, money. She`s starting to see the big picture now, that things are coming together, and it has some paint on it.I`ve actually heard her bragging(in a nice way) to her friends.LOL.They are both, really getting ,"STOKED-UP",and have been patiently waiting, for me to get better.,

Here`s the neighbours project. His concept ,with our joint ideas ,my build. Now it is about to become therapy too[8D].This is where I left off on that project .It`s really dusty, and pictures don`t do it justice.I custom made the paint, and stain. It`s one of those things, that you just need to see, in person(lots of differant pearls ,and, speciality metal flakes)...Once I start to do some painting again,I was thinking ,of putting a paint job, on a 1/2A plane.Make it "Light weight" and "PURDY".Something "Funky"maybe. If anyones intrested, I can do it as a sort of tutorial.I know that Tim Wiltse had painting questions at 1 time.Let me know,it won`t be for a while yet.

Default RE: How do I start.

This is where I`m at:All metal repairsare done, firewall Flattened ,Corvette Brake stuff under dash, and brake pedal is functioning.Fuel tank is ousted and filler hole covered.Got to fit the new doors, fenders, and hood.Fix whatever, and then, take it all apart again, once the shiming is figured out on all of it.The cab will be removed ,frame will get put under the box, and then that will all get pushed, into another garage, safe and sound ,while I Prep ,and apply, the Various coatings etc.

I`ve been wanting to build the DNU,(change name of the plane,to,,,, DIP?) since mid winter, so, Might just build 2 ,one for Mike ,and 1 for me.I just bought a new Futaba Micro Flite pack.A pair of those might look pretty cool sitting in the Truck Box, while we`re at the Street Meet Car shows that go on all over the place in the summer around here.

Anyways, I`ll be working slow, and easy,on this(truck), so as not to Kill myself.I`m allowed to TRY, but, Not allowed to Die(working)..It`s the, "Doctors orders".. LOL...I also want to keep building on my F4U-5 Corsair,in spurts.Hang around here in RCU(Good Bunch of folks here),and build some more 1/2A planes. We`ll see how things pan-out ,I Suppose.Chow, for now.

Now,, we`re up to date!!Want to give the LST .074",another try ,soon, too .DAVE B.

Sorry Snease there doesn`t seem to be much intrest ,in painting these types of planes.I think, if you have a specific question,in regards to useing Automotive type paints(it`s fuel proof)or, spray equipment, just P.M. me, and I`ll try, to answer you,on a ,one on one basis. No sense writing a thread, that very few want to read/know about..

I wouldn't mind learning a few airbrushing tips from a master painter. I've got a dual action Aztek that I almost never use. It would be great to know how to use it properly.
