No hardware,,I'm just too lazy to build a kit..I ordered the dubro hardware to make the aileron control wire and they are both too short! so I am gonna go with a servo in each wing..BSarge said when he was working on the Rivets he felt like Paul Bunyan trying to put stuff inside it,this thing is waaay worse, it is built tough after you start gluing things together...I know I will end up modifying it some too...sanding?! who sands anymore..its barbaric!!...sure hope it flys ok cause I gotta build another one for the cook.....oh well just a small rant ...Rog

The shrike is worse![:-] I guess I need to go to the hospital and "borrow" some micro surgical instruments[X(]

Rog- I think I am going to build the shrike before the ace ultimate...this 1/2a thing is growing on me...

rog, you should be able to finish it tonight... seeing as you left your phone off the hook and won't be disturbed by any calls.[X(]

Keep us posted with lots of photos of the build.

Doh! I thought that was your photo, rog. I got confused with two people building the same kit in the same thread.

Rog,
I guess I have built 5 or so incuding the scaled down .20 size Shrike I built ( you think the 1/2A is tough to fit servos ). I may have some photo's of the radio gear if you need to see how I fit them. The first build was tough as it is way different than a normal build ( hanging one side over the end of a table etc ), but the rest went w/o a problem. On the nose area just us some trangle stock inside and then use your power sander and sand it down to meet your spinner or alum. spinner nut. This saves alot of hand sanding.

Hey guys I gotta Shrike kit sitting in the closet. Mind if I build along with you guys?

I think however that I might be using the big bad "E" word on this one. Is that legal?

dF, can you tolerate the public humiliation cast upon those "e-fliers"?

PT, ya know, I'm beginning to think charging a battery and flipping a switch is a whole lot easier than dealing with a finicky Cox engine!

Prop, if you have fuel, air and heat, the Cox engine is about the same as flipping a switch. Hey, maybe you can get Glade to make a "burnt castor" scented oil candle....

dF, you're married too, huh?[sm=lol.gif]

Like a switch to a flourescent light that has a defective ballast! Tries to work- wants to work- runs a little, maybe- but never comes on. Put in that Norvel ballast and all works good.

I have seen a mod using a CF rod for the main spar and removable v-stab fins. Any other mods you guys know of?

Yup, Exactly! I replaced the carb body and put a new KK fine thread needle valve assembly along with a nice venturi on one of my TD's a couple of days ago. Put it on my 182 Skylane and test ran an 1oz tank worth of fuel through it and it ran just like clockwork. Got it to the field yesterday and it wouldn't start/run for $**T! I got one flight out of my old motor glider with another TD on it after messing around for 1/2 an hour getting that one to run. After yesterday, I'm ready to trade all my Cox stuff for one Norvel. Maybe I just don't have the patience I had as a kid when Cox was king.

Sarge, I can't see how you complain about how much room is in the Rivets[X(]. Are you guys gonna make me build a shrike now?[sm=50_50.gif]

DF, fear not you are not alone as the Mean Grean Rivets is now a lekky thanks to un-named vandals(gotta get a lock on that door). I hope to get a flight in soon but the W word is in the way at the moment.

Once you've got the first one out of the way the second, third etc can be built in a Sunday morning. They're quick building little birds, even quicker if you build electric.

Heck now I'm getting the itch to slap another one together.

Jeez thanks a lot guys
